I was given an out dated c.diff anti-biotic and potentially dangerous medication protocol in the ayer ED by another doctor working there (Jon Vacik). Steadman called me the next day to tell me they gave the right protocol. I got in touch with the pharmacist who CONFIRMED the Ayer ED gave outdated protocol for c.diff. The protocol included NARCOTICS and anti-nausea (when I reported NO nausea) whereas BOTH of the meds cause CONSTIPATION as to keep the c.diff TOXINS in the body LONGER. So, they gave meds that CAUSED constipation. Pharmacist confirmed all this and said he would call them. In my experience doctors in the Ayer ED seem to be limited to medical/mechanical first aid, are from 3rd rate or 3rd world med schools and are not up to date with c. diff protocols. When i went back for a RELAPSE, 2 more of them did not even know the name of the best anti-biotic for c.diff (Fidaxomycin) and the staff exhibited poor infection control. I had to tell THEM that the stool collection… receptacle should be put in TOXIC WASTE and not in bathroom trash can. Unbelievable that Steadman would call me to confirm an outdated and potentially dangerous protocol was the 'right' one.

I arrived by ambulance and waited over an hour for the doctor to come in.I had abdominal pain,vomiting and bloody diarrhea and he ordered a kidney ultrasound which was fine.I told him i think it was either a colitis flare up or my ovary and requested a ultra sound of my right ovary and utrerus which was denied.I was sent home and the next day in another hospital being admitted and having my right ovary removed because of a cyst that burst.

Highly recommend this Doctor because of his demeaner which sets one at ease and his expertise. I was recently transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center by EMT ambulance due to a large laceration to my head from a fall. Doctor Stedman was the attending Doctor in the ER and he ordered a scull CT, which was negative, and sewed the large open wound. The result after stitches were remove 2 weeks later was a hardly noticeable scar. Great personality under stressful conditions.
