Dr George Tavoulareas is a great doctor but unfortunately he has a front desk that cannot do anything or do not want to do anything. they cannot order medications, they have no idea how to call insurances, everything they claim they requested either never went through or never happened...etc. Unfortunately a great doctor without management or paper work in the US cannot go anywhere

Doctor Clearly Cares Nothing About Patients

My wife and I went to see another neurologist a year ago because of her leg pain, and the neurologist that we saw was just terrible. We were referred to Dr. Tavoulareas by her P.C.P. We have had the most spectacular response from Dr. Tavoulareas. He takes time to get to know his patients, makes a great effort to learn and explore both the patient's situation and the treatments. More than that, you can tell he is a good man with a good heart. I can not stress this: you will know from the first time you meet him that he is the best neurologist in New York City. Don't hesitate, go for Dr. Tavoulareas.

At 23 years of age with over 20 doctors misdiagnosed me postpartum. He alone diagnosed my spinal desease and introduced me to a conservative surgeon.. Because of Dr. T and his expertise I am now a healthy woman of 4 kids..

My mother sees this doctor for her Alzheimer's for the last 5 years. He is a very good knowledgeable doctor who explains in detail what is happening during her levels of illness. However, my biggest issue with this doctor is he does not return phone calls. I had episode with my mother & I called him not knowing what was happening or if her medication he recently prescribed her was the cause . He did not return my calls. I called 4x. Left messages with his secretary & answering service & nothing.. I also had trouble getting paperwork from his office for her home care. Til this day her primary physician has received nothing from him. No progress notes, medication information nothing. You call his office & the girls are very pleasant & say no problem we will send the information over & nothing. I have a big problem with this. In his defense, since he is a good doctor, I will say that all the doctors do this. Today's doctors are like 9-5 business men, don't call me I will call you… attitudes. It is really horrible. I am sorry this seems to be the practice of every doctor today especially specialists. It really is unacceptable.

I've been here over 3 times. Each time I waited no less than 2 HOURS!!!! Each time, appointments were made for 10:00 AM or earlier and the doctor did not roll in until 11:00 AM or later!!! EACH TIME PEOPLE! How inconsiderate, disrespectful must one be to schedule appointments an hour or more before he even arrives in the office? And considering that a majority of the patients to see Dr. Tavoulareas are elderly, this is particularly egregious behavior by the doctor himself! To wait 2 or more hours on a weekday in a cramped, uncomfortable waiting area for a 10-15 minute consult is utterly ridiculous, and if you do not want to waste your time, find a different doctor. The ONLY redeeming quality of this office is the doctor's main receptionist (her name escapes me) - she is quite pleasant in comparison to many receptionists I've encountered. Oh, and do not expect to get an appointment in less than a month waiting time.

I actually was at Dr. Tavoulareas' office to see one of his associates. That day, the doctor I was supposed to see was delayed at another building and no one knew exactly what time he was going to get back to the office. After waiting several hours, the staff working in the office that day asked Dr. Tavoulareas if he could see me since I was a new patient and had been waiting for a long time. Without hesitation, he agreed and I was quickly placed in an examination room. Within a minute, Dr. Tavoulareas was in the room and did a thorough examination related to my problem. He questioned every aspect of my problem to ensure nothing was left out and then ordered some tests to rule out anything else before coming up with a solid diagnosis. After my tests, he informed me of my results and informed me of how to control my migraines. Together with his courteous staff and his bedside manner, it was one of the better experiences I had visiting a doctor for an ailment I had. I would… definitely recommend him to friends and family.

Dr Tavoulareas is a caring and thorough Dr. I have been going to him for the past couple of years and have found both the Dr and staff to be very courteous . I have been referred to all the necessary drs and feel like i am in very capable hands with him..

Dr. Tavoulareas' office has the most discourteous racist staff I have ever encountered. The secretary Jacqueline gave me the wrong address twice. Although I called to inform her that I was lost, and my mother and I were not familiar with the Bay Ridge area, she did not inform me that I could not see the doctor. When I entered the doctor's office she greeted my mother and I with a depreciate phrase "You people are late". Her constant negative demeanor and choice of biased words left me with a bad taste in my mouth and most significantly I could not see the doctor.

My aunt was referred to Dr Tavoulareas by her primary phisician. As she is elderly, I handle all interactions with her doctors. I have found Dr. Tavoulareas to be very thorough in his exams. In addition, he is extremely sensitive to his patients, listens well and has a wonderful mannerism with his patients. I highly recommend him
