Fractured ankle right at Christmas. Two plates and 11 screws needed, but Dr put cast over ankle. Within a few days, had a staph infection inside cast and was running 105 temp. Was odd that first post surgery appointment was not for 3 weeks after the surgery, but it was my 1st surgery and I assumed he would not put me at risk. After going to ER twice following his surgery, was admitted to hospital where I was told it was possible amputation could be a possible requirement if the meds didn't knock out infection. Luckily, 24 hr antibiotics for days knocked it out. ER doc and others didn't understand why he put a cast post surgery on ankle that hadn't had time to swell.

Dr. Van Ostern treated me two days after a 2012 auto accident.- My research revealed little internet information concerning him.My office visiit revealed:- Great doctor- Knowledgable- Young enough to have the latest medical training- Old enough to have years of hands-on experience- Moved patients through the office efficiently, without diminished care- Listened, evaluated, recommended actionDr. Van Ostern was exactly what I expected a great doctor to be.
