Dr. Georges Zohrab Markarian, MD

I was a passenger in a plane crash landing in 2012. I immediately knew that my back was broken as I was paralyzed from the waste down. Airlifted to Akron General I first met Dr. Markarian shortly after arriving. The short version of the story is after examining my condition Dr. Markarian explained that I had a T-12 Burst fracture with retropulsion along with an additional 5 fractured vertebra. I also had other broken bones not related to my spine. He then performed emergency spinal surgery. I am so blessed that in my then circumstance, I met Dr. Markarian. He is a wonderful man and a brilliant surgeon. I am certain that if he had not performed such a difficult but incredible surgery that I would have been at a minimum, paralyzed for life. Within weeks I was learning to walk again. After several weeks I was walking, recovering and hopeful. I have lived a full life ever since and I beyond thankful for Dr. Markarian and his dedication to his patients and his craft. Thank You Dr.… Markarian !!

Dr. Markarian was excellent. Reviewed my MRI and suggested surgery that he does hundreds of. After 2 months of laying flat on my back and after a few hours of surgery I was moving in 48 hours and felt completely recovered out of pain and off meds. Had Spinal stenosis on and off for 3 years and after 3 shots with absolutely no relief just cut to the chase and fix it with Dr. Markarian. Staff was also wonderful.

Surgery was completely successful. Dr. Markarian is an excellent surgeon and a very personable and caring physician.

Had my back surgery in Feb of 2019 He was great.My only complaint he didn't come see me while I was in the hosptial but his assistant did a couple of times.He is a great caring doctor.

I'm sure he is a brilliant surgeon...why we went to him, but very arrogant guy who has a talent for making family members feel ignorant. So sad to see the lack of real patient care after surgery as well. Important to remember...we are all just human...and all deserve the same respect.

He was very nice. Told me I had a sliding disc. I have to quit smoking for a month and call back after I quit smoking. I need a fusion

I was in incredible pain for almost 2 years, during which time I received totally inadequate treatment from the Main Campus Cleveland Clinic-5 spinal injections, extremely long wait times in between and no relief for my "significantly" herniated disc and spinal stenosis. I went to my primary care physician and said, "Please help me". She did. She sent me to Dr. Markarian. He is soft spoken, kind, caring and brilliant. He does NOT bring a laptop into the exam room yet was completely familiar with my situation. He looks at me when he speaks to me. He listens when I speak. In a very short time I was and still am 100% pain free! My co-workers and family say I look 20 years younger without the pain. IMHO, Dr. Markarian is the epitome of a healer and everything a doctor should be.

This doctor let his PA do everything. Then looked at my chart outside the door the second time i came to the office (only saw the PA the first time) and saw that I was overweight and came into the room and said immediately that I needed weight loss surgery. He was rude and prejudice. I have had other necessary surgeries in the past and did fine with anesthesia etc. He did not even give me a chance to speak or talk about my back condition. Terrible bedside manner and doesn’t spend enough time with patient. And any doctor who walks into an exam room with a preconceived idea before even meeting me is not worthy of MY time. A good doctor would take all aspects of the condition of the patient into consideration. And if he doesn’t want to do surgery on patients who are overweight then don’t take my money for all the X-rays and multiple appointments - better ask what the patient’s weight is before they even come in. He wasted my time and I left crying.

His RN did the exam , then she consulted with the Doctor. Dr. Markarian only came in the room to give his opinion, not even a diagnosis. I honestly felt swindled.

What a sweet man.My husband liked him also.Happy to have him as my doctor.He is a 5 star doctor!
