Dr. Gerald Henry Clamon, MD

This physician is a brilliant oncologist. He treated my husband for a time. He was extremely rude and snapped at me when asking him questions. We changed oncologists to someone with a decent bedside manner and recognized us as people. Would not recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Clamon is generally pretty sharp as far as diagnosis and treatment goes. But when our family was dealing with my mother's stage 4 cancer diagnosis and treatment, he tended to talk down to us and could be quite moody. Sometimes he would engage my mother in conversation and treat her like a person, and other times he would be short with her and mildly insulting. He would forget something we had talked about -- something as serious as whether or not to pursue treatment or go the hospice route -- and then later forget the conversation, and act as if considering treatment was something we had pushed, when we had not. All in all, I would never have a loved one see this doctor again. His staff, however, is wonderful, and he is the only physician at U of I Hospitals that we have not been pleased with.
