Dr. Gerald Alan Lea

He was my OB in 1996, and was fine during my appointments if rather dismissive.He decided to induce labor due to my extreme morning g sickness the entire pregnancy. At about 11 hours into my labor, my baby started showing signs of distress- his heartbeat dropped, etc. Dr Lea mentioned c-section but decided to continue with a vaginal birth, and at 15 hrs of labor he came. He was blue, and non-responsive for the first couple of minutes because the cord had been around his neck. My son spent 4 days in NICU because he wasn't eating and his responses were a little off. His development was delayed as he grew, not walking til 15 months and at 2 1/2 years he spoke 6 words. He spent 11 years in speech therapy, and all through school had special classes and assistance due to "unspecified learning disabilities indicative of anoxia at birth". He's almost 21 now, got a regular HS diploma, holds a job, recently learned to drive, and has worked past most of his problems, but I wonder how much easier… his road would have been if Dr Lea had done the c-section he kept putting off?

I love Dr. Lea, he is truly the best ob I've been to. He has been my ob for years now, and I even put his name in my youngest childs name. If I ever need anything or have a question all I need to do is call. He listens to all my concerns and answers my questions. He never tries to rush through the visit.
