Dr. Gerald Paul Loushin, MD

Gerald P. Loushin, M.D., is an ophthalmologist and partner at Northwest Eye specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology with particular interest in refractive procedures including LASIK and PRK. Dr. Loushin’s practice also encompasses glaucoma and dry eye care. He has a strong interest in eye health, nutrition, and disease prevention.

Dr. Loushin completed his undergraduate education at St. Cloud State University earning double Bachelor of Science degrees in biomedical science and marketing/management. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree, with Honors in Research, at the Medical College of Wisconsin. After an internship at the Gundersen/Lutheran Hospital in Lacrosse, WI, Dr. Loushin completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Eye Institute in Milwaukee where he also served as chief resident.

Dr. Loushin is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of many medical professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology , …Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Medical Association, Minnesota Medical Association, and the American College of Nutrition. He is also active in volunteering in the Minneapolis area both personally and professionally.

In his spare time Dr. Loushin enjoys the outdoors especially bicycling in the Twin Cities area as well as the Midwest. He has a strong interest in healthy living and is one of a handful of ophthalmologists nationwide to earn Certified Nutrition Specialist status from the nationally recognized Certified Board of Nutrition Specialists. Dr. Loushin also enjoys various forms of physical fitness and is a non-practicing Certified Personal Trainer.
