Dr. Gerald Anthony Mastaw, MD

This guy is not a good doctor. I had two years in his practice and I can promise you he doesn’t care.

This “physician” is all about the money. He’s in the exam room in less than a minute and zooms out. I’ve heard him yell at his staff through the exam room door while waiting for my 1 minute appointment. I feel bad for the few girls that have been with him since the start. He’s unprofessional and i know he makes the staff lie for him when he’s “sick.” Would not recommend.

I began my chronic pain journey in 2015 with Dr. Mastaw. I had back surgery in 2006 and unfortunately it failed 9 years later leaving me in excruciating pain all the time. Dr. Mastaw, Julie, now Crystal and Stephanie have always been professional, kind and courteous even at times when my pain levels were causing my moods not to be so pleasant with them. Dr. Mastaw is very skilled and educated in technical and procedural methods of pain relief. He has preformed at least10 or more Lumbar Nerve Blocks and Nerve Ablations on my spine, and has worked with me and educated me on living and dealing with my condition of Chronic Pain. It took a about a year, but I have a protocol of working Pain Management without being on heavy narcotics. Dr Mastaw uses multiple approaches treating Chronic Pain from ordering Physical Therapy to Surgical procedures, Chiropractics, his staff provide all kinds of informational sheets on coping with pain through music and mental health strategies on the issue.… He also uses medication therapies. He is a good caring Doctor who understands no 2 patients are the same and there is no1magic bullet can solve the complexity of pain. If you are only looking for Narcotics? He is NOT a Doctor Feel Good. If you are serious about getting pain relief, and your willing to listen to him, be compliant, and do what he advises and follow directions. I promise you will feel so much better. I am a 57 year old Activist, Wife, Mother and Grandmother of a very active 3 year old and due to the partnership I have with Dr. Mastaw and his staff participating in my healthcare. I'm able to be productive and have a quality filled life. For that I'm grateful and blessed.

My first visit was my last visit. When a doctor spends all of 5 minutes with you on your first visit something is very wrong. I also waited in the exam room for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Only after letting someone know I was there did the doctor come into see me. I was the first patient appointment after lunch so I certainly should have been seen sooner. On top of this the doctor charged my insurance for a 45 minute visit. So beware and if you notice things that are blatantly and clearly abnormal think twice before committing to a doctor. There are other physicians that will treat you properly. I have seen doctors at this facility since 1975 and I have never been treated in this manner.

I have confidence in Dr Mastaw. He doesn’t just write scripts. He works with patient to find other ways to eliminate pain. He recommended a spine nerve stimulator but I was leery about implanting something. He didn’t try to change my mind, but instead explained a procedure to burn nerves. I am having that done and hopefully will get close to a year without low back pain. He came in to the practice a little stern and is still not a chatty, outgoing doc. That’s ok with me. I’d rather my doc concentrate on how they can relieve my pain instead of being buddy-buddy. I appreciate his help. His NP Julie McClure is awesome. She takes time to explain things well. She compliments his quiet, all business manner by being more friendly and outgoing. It’s a good practice that I appreciate.

Dr. Mastaw has my pain level the lowest it's been in 20 years, and as much I like him, its his office staff that needs to be replace with people who are more qualified in insurance filing and patient understanding. I'm looking for a doctor with a professional staff that understands insurance billing and patient understanding.

DR Mastaw is treating me for multiple spinanal issues. I had a Nevro HF10 Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted in my lower back. He was great with the procedure and all after care. Plus with other pain issues.

Dr Mastaw and Julie were very kind I am work comp. They showed they cared and have done there best for me. Even with there hands tied

Dr Mastaw & Julie both sit down with me and actually listen. I know pain management can be a field full of legalities, but with them, I am not made to feel like a criminal. He does everything he can to help relieve a patient's pain. My input has also been taken into consideration. Everyone in his office is kind and considerate. Phone calls are returned the same day. He has even worked with when I feel I have emergencies. I'm very happy to have him as my physician.
