Dr. Gerald Palting Melchor, MD

GD, I wish I could disagree with any of the specific negative reviews of Dr. Melchor. However, after over 18 months of dealing with this recklessly ignorant and arrogant "doctor," following a serious debilitating injury, requiring expedited surgical attention, I am beginning to wonder how Gerald's horrifying brand of "depraved indifference" has persisted this long inside the PVAMC system (12 yrs) w/o accusing the VA "brass" of "deliberate indifference"?

At 77 years of age, I’ve been under the care of many doctors in my life. Never before have I met one with as obnoxious and dismissive an attitude toward patients as this one. If you have health problems and are looking for a physician who cares, stay away from this one.

Acts like your just wasting his time. Talks down to you about your issues. Sits with his back to me while talking. When I switched Doctors the patient advocate said “you may get one worse than the one you have”. Truer words were never spoken,

This is the worst doctor you can imagine don't waste your time with him

Dr. Melchor has a poor bedside manor. He spends most of the time typing in the computer rather than looking at you when you're trying to share medical issues. When sharing severe pain issues he says that this is what happens when you get older, without really hearing you.

Dr. Melchor is afraid to buck the system. When it comes to listening to his patients he will raise his voice in a challenging way that make his patient feel he doesnt care about them.
