Dr. Gerald D Mick, MD

Saw Dr. Mick, since I could not see my primary PCP, for back pain. He focused primarily on the meds that I have been on that have been monitored by my main PCP. I felt he questioned my doctor's ability to provide me good care. When asking how long I have been on the med Xanax 1 mg ER ( once per day ) informed me that HE was not on Xanax. When I explained that he did not know my personal medical history and that I had five children and I experience anxiety he then informed me that HIS wife has four children and was not on Xanax. Comparing me to his wife was totally inappropriate and uncalled for. His personal family situation is something he should have never brought up. This doctor made me feel like it was all in my mind ( my anxiety ) and that I should seek counseling instead of medication. He then suggested that I visit the North Retail Pharmacy and ask them how many women my age are taking Xanax and that I would find not many women do. I disagree with this - My oldest daughter… graduated from Butler University and IS a pharmacist. I asked her for her opinion and she sent me the proper doses for Xanax and the doses that send a red alarm - I am much under the doses that some women my age are taking. I told Dr. Mick that I was in the ER with back pain and they did give me a muscle relaxer, but I cannot take that when I am in pain when working. He said he could not help me because of the Xanax. If he had a concern, he should have said that I need to follow up with my PCP and not berate me and make me feel like it is a sin to be on Xanax. His personal feelings were definitely shown and his comments were offensive and inappropriate and I felt because I was a WOMAN. So, if seeking a doctor for your care please think twice before choosing Dr. Mick. I will never go to his office again and the only reason I was scheduled with him was because certain doctors are only available on certain days because of COVID19. I followed up with my main PCP who expressed her concern that I have a slipped disc in my back and is pressing on a nerve. She ordered an xray, blood work, and PT. If you want a doctor to find the cause of your pain and not assume you are drug seeking and says he cannot help you, Dr. Mick is not your guy. Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect in healthcare. Do your homework before choosing this doctor especially if you are a female.

Our son has hovered on the 2-3% scale for weight and height. While my wife and I are not huge (5'1 and 5'8), Dr. Mick was highly dismissive of exploring the issue. He said that he would refer us to a specialist, but bullied us into thinking that it was a bad idea, and said if it would make us feel better, OK, but then stop. He admitted that he did not know what was going on for endocrinology, but repeatedly said that if it would make us feel better, then OK. We do not recommend him.

In this day and age where health care corporations push the through product (number of patients seen), Dr. Mick is one of the few doctors to be found today where he takes the time to communicate with you. Communication is both listening (considering the comment/s) and then responding. Dr. Mick listens very well. I do not believe my family are simple numbers to Dr. Mick. I think Dr. Mick honestly attempts to take the time to provide the best medical advice and care to his patients he is capable of providing. A rare virtue in today's health care market.

Reportedly has good academic performance in school but would benefit on a patient relations refresher course.

Good grades do not translate to good patient care. Perhaps a refresher course on being personable would be in order

I do not recommend this doctor. He did not help me at all. He spent 10 minutes with me and he was rude and unprofessional.

Dr. Mick is amazing and wonderful; however - this contact info is correct. Don't know where he moved to.

A great Doc

Can't say enough about Dr. Mick. I had a real health crisis last year and went through two other primary care docs before I found him. So very thankful I did.

Dr Mick would make a fantastic homeopathic doctor because he's not into prescribing addictive prescription but at the same time I am a thirty year old adult who happens to know a lot about what my body needs and when I ask to try certain medicines to help with stress I would at least would like the respect of a doctor listening to my needs. What if I was one of those people who went and looked for other ways to feel my needs. He can be a fantastic doctor but I could of really needed it. In ways I'm glad he didn't prescribe it but in other ways an ant depressant normally doesn't help but worsen the matter.
