Dr. Schell is the best neurosurgeon I have dealt with. He is compassionate and efficient. His staff clearly cares a great deal about their patients.

Staff/ receptionist very unprofessional

Inquired about a referral that was pending for 4 days Nurse receptionist was very rude on the phone. She said in a very rude tone "the Doctor has been in surgery we will get to it when we get time!!" I said sorry' I was just inquiring I hadn't heard anything in 4 days. Then she then hung up the phone. She then called up my referring doctor and said I would not be a good fit for their office because I was rude, WOW what a lie.

For a patient that has been a patient for over ten years and is 3rd generation female to have surgery done by Dr Schell. There is a Certain amount of Trust and a relationship that has been formed over a lot of years. But I was shown that is One sided by the way I was treated by the doctor I trusted. Who yelled at me and walked out the back door and the whole waiting room saw this!

Dr. Schell is the best. At 16 years old, I ruptured a disk in my lower back. I was in terrible pain with a lot of numbness in my legs. I had x-rays, injections, physical therapy, and numerous rounds of medications, including steroids. Finally, I was able to see Dr. Schell. He told me that my MRI and symptoms did not line up. I went in for surgery and he found more nerve impingement than the MRI showed and in several spots that were not shown. I felt immediately better. I went on to play HS basketball and football, ultimately earning a college football scholarship. No other doctor believed that I had the problems that I had, only Dr. Schell and he fixed my back and gave my life back to me.

Schell fused from l-4 down to my tailbone. One month after surgery a screw came out while I was sleeping. I call his office with my concern and was told no it didn't. So I called my family doctor and had him order a cat scan. It showed a screw had came out. Schell was mad because my doctor ordered the cat scan and instead of repairing the problem told me we'll wait and see if it heals itself. I said how is the screw going to put itself back in which made him more upset. Schell will take no responsibility for his screw ups period. Eight months later he scheduled surgery to repair the problem. It was a year from the time it started falling apart until I went back for repairs. By the time schell decided to do anything all the screws were floating around along with the plates and he couldn't put it back together as the screw holes were to wollowed out to put them back in. Now I'm back to square one and in worse shape. I've had three doctors tell me to report it to the AMA. I believe that… should be my next move. Schell has no business being in business.

Dr.Schell saved my life in 1993,he operated on my brain & removed part of the brain stem.He told me I'd be just like a person with Alzheimer's.But to add to the difficulty I wouldn't have a short term memory.As I've aged,the lack of a short term memory gets more difficult.But I wanted to ask him if I remember correctly that he said I'd be just like a person with Alzheimer's?Please send me a answer via email.Thank You,Marvin Lienard
