Dr. Gerard Paul Champaloux, MD

Dr Gerard Champaloux has been my PCP for well over 10 years. I owe him my life. I will never go to anyone else. 11 years ago, I was followed by another physician whom misdiagnosed my shortness of breath & respiratory distress on multiple occasions as asthma. With no improvement in my breathing, I went to see Dr G. Champaloux whom quickly diagnosed me in his office as heart failure. My heart muscle was functioning at only 15%. Dr G. Champaloux sent me directly to the ER and notified a cardiologist whom was awaiting my arrival. I was hospitalized for several weeks, placed on medication, and eventually ended up with a implantable cardiac device in my chest. My heart is functioning near normal now. The cardiologist said I would not have lived another week had I not been diagnosed so quickly by Dr G. Champaloux . I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a primary care physician. Thank goodness his many years of experience as a physician saved my life. I am forever grateful to him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gerard Champaloux for over 30 years. He is one of the most caring and compassionate doctors I have ever met. He takes the time to get to know his patients, not only medically but personally as well. He is very thorough, not the type of doctor to just put a bandage on the problem, he is one that will get to the root of the problem. When I first started seeing him, I had been misdiagnosed with Bronchitis and actually had Pneumonia. He picked up on it right away and treated me without me having to be hospitalized. I knew then, he was the doctor for me. I was so taken by him, that I encouraged my family and friends to see him as well. When my Daughter was born, and only a few days old, had a severe rash all over her body. Dr. Champaloux recommended I take her to a dermatology specialist at John Hopkins. Once we got to the dermatologist, they turned us away because it was too much of a risk with her being a new born. I went back to Dr. Champaloux, in tears,… worried for my baby and being a first time mom. Dr. Champaloux put me at ease and assured me he would do everything he could to help us. A week later she was better. Twenty Two years later, he still remembers everything about that day and still talks about it, every time he sees her. Most recently, he saved my husband’s life. He had be sick with Bronchitis for a while, with his symptoms worsening we went back to see Dr. Champaloux. We explained to him what he had been experiencing. He immediately did an EKG and ran blood tests. The EKG came back abnormal. Without hesitation, and while we were still in his office, he had his staff contact the Cardiologist and asked that my husband be seen right away. The next day the blood work came back. Dr. Champaloux immediately contacted the Cardiologist. It appeared that my husband had had a mild heart attack. Between the Cardiologist office and Dr. Champaloux’s office they frantically tried getting ahold of my husband and I. Everything happened so fast from that point. It turned out, the very next day, my husband had to have open heart surgery. His condition was very bad and it was amazing that he did not suffer a major heart attack. If it had not been for Dr. Champaloux knowing his patient, having the knowledge and his quick response, my husband may have not survived. We are truly blessed to have him in our lives!

Dr. Champaloux doesn't look objectively at symptoms to provide a diagnosis. He simply writes prescriptions. Additionally, he allows patients to self diagnose... if they tell him the reason they think there is a problem, then he provides medication for that regardless of actual diagnosis or tests. If you have some a serious illness, this treatment style can "string you along" until it is too late to address the problem.
