I have had mysterious non-asthma breathing problems for a few years that no other pulmonologist has been able to figure out. Dr. Frank really listened, did thorough testing, and brought up possible diagnoses that no one else had come up with yet. I'm very grateful for his expertise, I highly recommend him especially if you have autoimmune disease.

Complete waste of my time. Unsympathetic to my concerns and disrespectful. I don’t need a specialist to tell me I need to go back to my psychiatrist to deal with my “lung issue”

Visit was an absolute waste of time. Unprepared. Disinterested. Unhelpful. Avoid.

I feel the need to defend Dr. Frank. I didn't have the horrible experience with Dr. Frank as another reviewer had. I was referred to Dr. Frank by my doctor after a chest xray that was ordered (for strained breathing and coughing and utter failure during my last two marathons), showed some slight mass. Dr. Frank felt this was scarring from pneumonia that I had several months ago. He gave me an inhaler and nasal antihistamine to try for a week. After improvement only while running when I used the inhaler, the doctor has given me an asthmatic inhaler to try out for two weeks. Dr. Frank listens well but I didn't whine about what was going on. I gave him general symptoms I am having and he asked questions necessary. Anything I felt was crucial, I mentioned (like the fact that I used to run 26 miles without stopping and at that point I could hardly finish three). The man has been practicing medicine for years. He doesn't need to know what I ate for dinner last night in order to… diagnose me. He's doing a great job in trying to find a way to ease my asthma-like symptoms and has already narrowed my problem down to two possibilities. I think some people expect physicians to be miracle workers. Most medicine is trial and error and you can't expect an answer to something such as breathing issues in one appointment.I would recommend this doctor to anyone.

I came in complaining of chest pain, black pain, pain when I breathe, stiffness in my neck,insomnia, night sweats, rapid weight loss, a cough, and the fact that the pain + labored breathing has been occurring for one week now with varying intensity. Usually it was worst when I woke, and better after I moved around. I was also having stomach cramps and pain, and was suffering from a painful, swollen throat.Dr. Gerard asked me very few questions, gave very little time and interest to hearing my responses, and seemed to be more interested in asking about my ethnic origin.The Dr. sent me for a chest x-ray and when I came back to the office he pulled up the x-ray, looked at it for 2 seconds, and said, "Looks clear, probably just some muscle strain. I'll refer you to a muscle specialist." When I asked whether all these symptoms would indicate something more than simple muscle strain, he sent me to do an irrelevant breathing test before sending me off with the same referral.Overall, I felt… this man was an inadequate and indifferent doctor who had no real interest in my pain or problems and was quick to rush me out of his office after racially interrogating me about my ethnicity. I would not recommend him to anyone.
