Dr. Gerard Joseph Furst, MD

Had bunion surgery about 10 years ago. When at the time I was having a problem with a hammer toe that was a result of the surgery. Dr. First dismissed it as he claimed it was not due to the surgery, which it was. Now presently having problems with both feet due to his botched up surgery. Stay away from this so called doctor and go to someone who knows what he is doing.

My Dad had gangrene in his foot because of a circulatory problem and was seen in the hospital and in the office. Dr. Furst is truly a caring and very knowledgeable foot doctor. His care has been extremely effective. He only does surgery when absolutely necessary. His office is beautiful and very clean. He is a doctor who keeps his appointments in a very timely manner. There needs to be more doctors like Dr. Furst.

Treated my condition as a result of diabetes which covered 5 months. His expert diagnosis and treatment saved by toes. Extremely professional, great communicator, explains everything that is required to reach a positive outcome. Very comfortable bedside manner. Best doctor I have had in my 72 years

Very impersonal with bad attitude. Did surgery on my wife foot and let the small toe hanging, not connected. Would not listen and very rude. I will not recommend this Dr to anyone..

I was so impressed, i am having family members seen by him too.

This man should retire. If he treats all patients like he treated me, it's time for him to get away from the public. He rarely answered my questions, & never explained what he was going to do before he started a procedure. I had a total of 5 or 6 office visits @ the wound center. If there was no improvement @ the next visit, he would make snide comments & blame me. Dr. Furst was very eager to perform surgery on my toe & I questioned my risk for surgery & anesthesia due to diabetes, hypertension & poor circulation in the affected leg. He did not appreciate being questioned about the soundness of surgery @ this time. I finally realized that surgery performed by someone who obviously didn't like me was not a good idea. I have found another physician & am being treated w/respect & my opinions are listened to. The staff @ the wound care center is very nice & accomodating, but I was uncomfortable w/Dr. Furst & deserved better medical care.

From making the first appointment straight on through. Dr. Furst and his staff were wonderful! He took the time and asked several questions to get to know me and my injuries! His staff was warm, welcoming and friendly!

Everything was an open and shut case. I had no input.
