Dr. German H Costa, MD

Our daughter's life saved Within the last two weeks, our younger daughter in NJ, developed severe abdominal pain and was 911’d to Palisades UMC in North Bergan. I knew it was serious. She went to ER and ended up in OR in 5 hours, for 5 feet of gangrenous bowel. She was septic and near death. The ER, and surgical team, lead by G. Costa, and the nurses on the floor were great. In a less efficient and knowledgeable hospital she would have passed. The cause was rare. She did well and discharged in 4 days after surgery. As someone who did this in past, I cannot give enough compliments to the care she received. I ask that any followers give a thumbs up to UMC Pallisades and Dr. Costa. I don’t know exactly how to do it, I know they have a web site, on FB. She is tough but without their expertise, we would be lost. Thank you - George "Bing" Linhardt

I really liked Dr. Costa the time my son n I went to see the first time. very well mannered, n explained all very well. what I didn't like about Dr. Costa was that when my son had his surgery done, he didn't bother to come out n talk to me. you would think the doctor would come out to the patients family after surgery to tell them how everything went during the surgery.

The best surgeon anyone could ask for he has a great bedside manner and I would highly recommend him his staff is very courteous

Dr Costa performed hemmorhoid surgery on me. I was given a whole packet of written material (which no one would have likely read) but no verbal instructions after the surgery regarding preventing hard stools or constipation after the surgery. Inspect the first three days after returning home from the surgery laying on the bathroom floor. I always felt on the verge of having a bowel movement but it did not happen. I could literally feel the hemmorhoids returning as I lay on the floor in misery. I called Dr. Costa' office for advice and got his answering service. My request to have the on call Doctor call me was never fulfilled. Had my condition been life threatening, I would have just died in my bathroom floor. In my opinion, there is no excuse for an on call Doctor not returning the call of a patient who had just had surgery. This should be considered malpractice.

I had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr Costa during an emergency life or death situation...not only is his knowledge in his field remarkable,but his bed side manner is as well !! He saved my life and I have always spoke highly of him amd his staff..and will continue to refer friends and family to him. He put my faith back into trusting a doctor and I will be forever grateful to him.

Office staff have poor comminicatiin skills and do not follow through with phone calls and follow up.
