Dr. Ghobad Azizi, MD

My experience with Dr. Azizi has been exceptional. He is very professional, balanced with the willingness to listen to the patient. He takes the time to analyze lab work and is very thorough. I would recommend him without reservation.

I called Dr Azizi’s office upon arriving to Wilmimgton 10 years ago to ask if they accepted my insurance before I made an appt. The receptionist assured me they took my insurance I asked her to double check with billing because I did not want to get stuck with a large doctors bill. I called back a few days later and “ billing” said my visit would be completely covered. I went to my appt and noticed how the front receptionist was not a pleasant woman as she addressed each patient in the waiting room When I left my appt the front receptionist slapped me with a whopping $1800 bill. I was shocked and said I called twice and you told me my insurance would cover this visit . She said apparently it doesn’t and you need to pay it and completely dismissed me in front of everyone in the waiting area and asked for the next person. I left there so upset. I tried to call the next day for billing and the same receptionist kept answering and wouldn’t put me through I called again… to try to get to Dr Azizi and she would not give him my messages she was very mean and unprofessional Finally I went back to the office and told her I need to speak with Dr Aziizi or billing I should not have to pay this and you will not put me through to talk to anyone I do not appreciate the way you are treating me or speaking to me. She refused and said billing is unavailable and Dr Azizi is with patients Again I left frustrated A few days later I received a letter that I am no longer wanted as a patient at their practice! The letter was “signed” by “Dr Azizi “ I was so frustrated and in disbelief. I ended up paying the bill as they theeatened to send me to collections! I would never know if Dr Azizi was aware of what went on until a couple of months ago my daughters pediatrician tried to refer her to Dr Azizi for her thyroid problem and he refused to take her I can only wonder if perhaps the very unprofessional receptionist still works with him and recognized my last name or Dr Azizi does not care enough about his patients and only his dollar. Either way I would never recommend anyone be subjected to his office.

Great doctor, great staff. I do recommend Dr Azizi to anyone looking for an endocrinologist

I have been coming to Dr. Azizi for the last 10 years. He is always very willing to answer any questions I may have and is very knowledgeable. My son is a patient of his as well, and he always takes his time with him. He really cares about his patients and their well being.

Dr. Azizi is an exceptional doctor. Outstanding in every way. He and his wonderful staff have always exceeded my needs and expectations throughout the years. I highly recommend Wilmington Endocrinology.

I have always found my visits with Dr Azizi and his staff to be comforting. I know that I am being well taken care of by this professional staff.

First experience with this doctor was great. Second, however was a nightmare. I had an enlarged node in my neck (i have a history of thyroid cancer with lymph node mets) and he told me it was nothing to worry about and that I should watch it and see if it's still there in a few months. Meanwhile, I have changed doctors and learned i DO in fact, have metastatic thyroid cancer and that I also have a gene mutation which makes it more aggressive. He was a jerk to me that day and actually SCOLDED me for going to my primary care giver who sent me for a neck ultrasound. I have never had a doctor speak to me that way before. I will NEVER GIVE him another dime of my money. He's a narcissistic jerk and I can only be thankful he showed his true colors when he did so I wouldn't waste another minute of my time on him.

I have been seeing Dr. Azizi for at least the past 10 years. He was one of only 2 endocrinologists in Wilmington at the time I was referred by my family doctor. His office staff is professional and easy to work with, and his equipment is state of the art. He will run thorough blood work and will adjust medications accordingly. That is why I actually gave 2 stars. Everything else goes downhill.... Dr. Azizi goes by the book. By test results. By numbers only. I have tried multiple times to try to explain to him how I actually FEEL and he has shown little or no interest. On multiple visits, when I tried to explain my distress at my hair and eyebrow loss, his answer was "It looks fine to me." Well, it wasn't fine and his answer showed no interest or empathy. On another visit, while updating my chart, I mentioned that my husband and I had recently separated. His reaction was puzzling as he seemed truly horrified and asked me "Why on earth would you DO that?" He had never met… my husband and knew nothing of our marriage, so I had a problem with the way he made me feel I had done something very wrong. He has repeatedly blamed my hormones for my physical problems and on my visit in 2017 he told me I needed to have them retested and my hormone creams adjusted. I went to my family doctor and she ordered a saliva test. I took the results to him and he said "Who told you to do this? Who told you to see this doctor and get a SALIVA test?" I tried to explain to him that he was the one who told me to go, and if he wanted a different and specific test, he should have told me what he wanted. After sending him some follow up blood work last month, he had a nurse call me and tell me to find another doctor since obviously I was unhappy with my care. Thanks so much for waiting until I was 65 and going on medicare! Doctors are lining up for patients like me! I continued going to him because I need my medications. I have had a couple of visits that seemed normal, but overall, it is best that I leave. The vast majority of the time I felt like nothing but a lab report. He did not want to hear about anything that concerned me, and when he did look up from his laptop, it was either to tell me that he didn't see where there was any problem or to blame it on something else. When he gave me specific directions to go and get further testing and I did what he said, he jumped all over me and made me feel stupid. I find it interesting that he did not even bother to discuss my dismissal with me, but had his office staff do it over the phone. I have never experienced anything remotely like this with any other doctor I have ever seen, and there have been many of them. There is no excuse for anyone leaving his office feeling scolded, stupid, and defeated.
