Dr. Gilbert Horton Mudge JR., MD

Dr. Mudge does not take the time to consider all elements of the medical problems his patients may be having. I would not recommend him.

He's the doc who said Celtic Reggie Lewis had a normal athlete's heart thus permitting him to play (despite other cardiologists saying he shouln't) and he died from his heart attack. I would avoid this arrogant know-it-all guy at all costs. I cannot believe he is still practicing.

We have had the pleasure of going to Dr Mudge. I have never had a DR so carinig and goes out of the way. My husband had mitral valve repair and Dr Mudge on Chrimstas Eve spent time personally on the phone with me when I called. I called with a problem with a local DR and he set up a visit with a DR that he knew that had us in for care within the hour. I have never had a DR show such care and follow through. His nurse Kathleen is also wonderful. They make a wonderful team and I am so happy we have them. We drive 2 hours because he is worth the drive and time.

Dr Mudge is kind of loveably quirky, but a terrifically skilled and caring doctor. He has a top notch staff of assistants that excel at communicating with the patient and reviewing and resolving their every need and concern. I'm not religious, but I feel blessed to have found and remain under this doctors care.
