Dr. Gina Marie Rooker, MD

I have to share with everyone what a wonderful experience I had today with Dr. Rooker, Val, Rick and the exiting secretary who 's name I can't remember .....but she was lovely! Dr Rooker was kind, knowledgeable and gentle before and after my short procedure. The entire team showed True patient satisfaction! I will pass on my excellent visit that I had with Dr. Rooker and her entire team. Thank you Dr. Rooker and Val for putting me at ease and making me a believer.

When I scheduled with Dr. Rooker, I thought I was lucky to be scheduled with a female urologist, as there are so few. Boy, was I wrong. Like another reviewer on a different site (ratemds), I had the experience that she shoved her fingers into my vagina with virtually no warning, which really shocked me. Immediately after that happened, I told her (pretty darn calmly, although I felt shaken) that I wanted her to let me know if she was ever going to put anything inside me during a future exam. Her response? She actually behaved as though I hadn’t said anything. She did not make any response whatsoever, but started talking about something else. I was totally confused by this, so after she had said a few things, I returned to what had happened. I told her I’ve had many gyno exams but have never had a doctor give me zero indication that they were about to put a finger inside me, and I that I’d felt startled and uncomfortable. This time, she responded by actually rolling her eyes at me and… telling me that “my being startled had nothing to do with her medical conclusions from the exam.” Then when I told her I wasn’t questioning her medical conclusions but still wanted to be able to raise my concern, she actually charged out of the room. That’s right. It was the equivalent of her hanging up the phone on me. No goodbye, no “you can check out now,” nothing about scheduling any follow-up with her. That’s how she responds when women tell her something she did made them feel unsafe. On top of all that, she had absolutely no bedside manner, treated me like I was an inanimate object, didn’t even look at my history or intake paperwork (I know because I had finished filling it out in the exam room, and it was on the counter behind her the entire time, untouched), and cut off the conversation before even explaining to me what my diagnosis meant. I’ve never filed a complaint about a doctor before. After this appointment, I filed reports with her supervisor, the Board of Medicine, my insurance company, and another agency. I’m so relieved I had asked my husband to be in the appointment with me — having him as a witness made this experience more bearable. Never, never again.

She rushed through the whole appointment. I was told no post-op care instructions for the cystocopy and was in excruciating pain for days afterward. She blew off my two questions, didn't answer the first one at all and said she wasn't going to do anything about the second concern. On top of her terrible bedside manner, the script she wrote was illegible which delayed me getting treatment by a day while my pharmacist contacted her. The only positive thing I can say is that the nurses were very caring and calm. Unfortunately great staff doesn't make up for a beyond awful doctor.

I was trying to see Dr. Rooker and I made that clear when I made my appointment. The first available appointment was in two weeks. I received a reminder call which said that I would be seeing another Dr. When I called to inquire, I was put on hold for 30 minutes. I finally spoke to the staff and was told that if I didn't like it I should go elsewhere.

Dr. Rooker gives you bladder control pills when you've already had bladder control pills in the past and they didn't work. You go to her office and the PA Amy is always in with a patient and when you call her back. I've been waiting for 2 1/2 weeks to discuss my treatment for my possible interstitial cystitis after undergoing a urodynamics test and can't reach her. I'd like to be treated for the pain I have, I'm going to another urologist who has a staff that can speak to me when I call. I have a job that does not allow me to receive phone calls and this PA knew this.

Dr Rooker is a good doctor with great surgical skills, I was very fortunate to have her as my urologist, and she is a woman which is rare in urology, we need more women in urology, it makes such a differenc, I felt so happy in her care.
