Gina Trask, DDS, MSD
I love being an orthodontist. Orthodontics allows me to combine my engineering ability with my artistic creative side to create individualized beautiful, functional smiles. My profession allows me  to  work with a  variety of people and to come to know them on a  personal and professional level. I frequently will treat whole families, siblings,  parents, grandparents, and cousins. It is very rewarding  to keep in touch with families for generations, creating an extended community.
Education and Experience
I was the first female orthodontist in private practice in Seattle. When I  started dental school, women in dentistry were  rare. There were 13 women in my class of 100 dental students at the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry. I graduated with honors  and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society. I attended the University of Washington’s graduate orthodontic program, completing my Master of Science degree in …Dentistry in 1985. My thesis, “The Effects of Perennial Allergic Rhinitis on Skeletal Developmentâ€, was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and has been cited in over 60 articles and textbooks.
The best professionals remain perpetual students, questioning and investigating new research and developments.  In order to provide the most comprehensive, up to date treatment, I attend a variety of continuing education courses to keep up with  rapidly changing treatment options, new technology and materials.
I was the first female president of the Washington State Society of Orthodontists and one of the first female presidents of the Seattle King County Dental Society. I am a member of numerous  professional organizations, including:

In the Orthodontic Community
Growing up, my family sponsored two foster children.  This experience gave me a passion for helping children in need.  I believe that orthodontic care can change a person's self esteem in a profound way. I work with youth advocates to provide pro-bono care for foster children in need of orthodontic treatment and donate care through Seattle King County Dental Services for children  who otherwise could not receive orthodontic treatment.
Outside the Office
I moved to Seattle to attend dental school and fell in love with the people, the greenery, the water, and the feel of the Pacific Northwest. I have middle school age twins, Grace and Michael. Our family pets are a sweet, playful sheltie named Daisy and a beautiful, cuddly calico named Purrfect.
I have been involved in the PTA and school fund raisers. Â I sponsor a North East Seattle softball team who have played for the championship of their division three times, and won the division twice!
In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, walking around Seattle, reading, boating, listening to music, and attending the theatre. I also love to travel to different countries to explore their culture, art, and food.
