Dr. Glen E Johnson, MD

while reading these reviews, i have to wonder if we are talking about the same Doctor... I do know in fact that there are TWO Glen Johnsons, actually one is Glen Johnston...and they have worked in the same clinic. My daughter had ACL reconstruction, and Dr Glen E Johnson was absolutely FABULOUS, great bedside manner and knows his stuff! I refer to him quite often!

Have been seeing Dr. Johnson for many years. For both left and right knee, left and right shoulder, lower back pain, and right hip problems. He's always been very honest about what could / could not be done. While aggressive in treatment, surgery is never the first suggestion. A reminder that keeping excess weight off only assists in the recovery and helps long-term is usually included and always seconded by the physical therapist. Referrals for P/T are given based upon the injury to be rehabbed and rarely have I gone to the same location unless it was my preference. My surgeries have all been highly successful, and he has referred me elsewhere when the surgery was not his area of expertise. I've always found him to be caring and compassionate, and since there has been little turnover in his staff, I'm fairly confident that he treats his employees as well as he treats his patients. I accept that he's a doctor and not a miracle worker and understand that his success is greatly… determined by how closely I follow his recommendations and by the amount of work I do in rehab, either with or without a surgical procedure.

Dr. Johnson replaced my knee four years ago and I still have problems today. After reading yesterday about knee replacements gone wrong it sounds like Dr. Johnson used the wrong replacement and/or glue. Now what. Knee replacement is not fun or cheap.

Dr. Johnson is chosen by his fellow physicians nationally to be listed on the cover of the textbook on Sports Medicine by the American Academy of Orthopedic physicians. I have worked with him and many top orthopedist in STL and he is the best. Also, has a very humble and kind disposition so the angry, negative reviews on this site represent the disposition of the individuals who wrote these reviews. I have worked with hundreds of his patients in physical therapy, not once have I heard anything like the angry reviews posted, not once in 23 years

My mom went to see this doctor after her primary told her the x-rays of her knees showed really bad osteoarthritis and multiple bone spurs. My mom has had bad knees since she injured them both as a teenager. Shes been through multiple rounds of physical therapy and been to see many doctors over the years. She had to do cortisone injections and even knee surgery but this doctor told her that her knees are perfect and the only problem is that she is fat! You don't have numerous doctors put you through surgery and all of that if your knees are perfect! This doctor was rude and insulting the entire time she was there! Repeatedly calling her fat when he obviously has no room to talk. She was there for knee pain and he twisted her knee and made it worse! Do not waste your money seeing him! We will be filing a complaint about this and getting a second opinion for sure!

Dr. Johnson and his staff are amazing. They worked me in at the last minute and the staff was so patient, kind and understanding. He listened to all my issues about my medical conditions and took time with me and my husband and explained everything in detail. Thank you for helping us get through a difficult time.

I have never met a more condescending and rude doctor. He cut me off continually, and when I tried to ask questions he scolded me for interrupting him. After I had had enough he blocked the door and asked for a chance to tell me what his advice was. I told him he had a terrible bedside manner. He tried to recover, but was still rude. He assumed that I just wanted surgery and meds, and assumed I would not be willing to do hard work. One piece of his advice was that I not use stairs. I live in a two story house and have 3 kids under the age of 5. I asked him what I should do with the 1 year old who can't walk up and down the stairs. He told me I need to figure something out, and rudely asked if I wanted his advice or not. After spouting his advice to do physical therapy (which I would love to do), he asked if I would be back. I told him he made a terrible first impression. He asked for a chance to make a better second impression. I then asked him if he would be a jacka$$… when I came back. (Clearly not the best decision on my part, but the experience warranted the use of profanity.) He then called me rude. I rolled my eyes when I heard that. He then pointed out that I rolled me eyes. I told him I was done and he slammed the flag on the door and left. I have never been more disgusted and disrespected by a doctor in all of my life. He told the woman working at the check out desk not to charge me. I'm fairly certain he wouldn't have done that had he felt he acted appropriately. This was the worst doctor visit I have ever had. I will never return and would not recommend this doctor to anyone for any reason.
