Dr. Glenn Edward Garcia Jr., MD

Dr. Glenn Garcia is an Internal Medicine specialist who is dedicated to taking care of the whole patient, as well as teaching others. Dr. Garcia is passionate about academics and passing on his knowledge to the next generation of physicians. As a native Spanish and English speaker who has trained in multiple countries, Dr. Garcia brings diverse training to each patient encounter.

Dr. Garcia earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and International Relations from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his postbaccalaureate studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and completed his graduate studies at Fordham University in New York, New York. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Garcia cares for patients at the Morrell Campus.

Describe your clinical specialties.
I am an Internal Medicine specialist, hospitalist, and academician. This means I am dedicated to taking care of the whole patient both inside …and outside of the hospital - as well as teaching others to follow in my footsteps.

What is your patient care philosophy?
Doctor is the Latin word for “teacher.” While my passion is teaching my students and residents, my duty and vocation are to teach my patients.

What would you like people to know about you as a physician?
I’ve been fortunate to train in multiple countries and in multiple languages. I bring this diverse training to each patient encounter.

What do you enjoy most about working with patients?
I enjoy making my patients smile on what is likely to be one of the worst days of their lives.

How does your work improve lives?
I hope my patients walk away with a better understanding of themselves and how to prevent and/or mitigate the complications of disease.

What are some interesting facts about you?
I love freshwater fishing, collecting retractable fountain pens, and the New York Yankees!

With which community and volunteer organizations are you involved?
I am involved in the Florida Medical Association, the National Hispanic Medical Association, and Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians.

Would you like to share about your family?
Everything I have achieved is thanks to the love and support of my parents, wife, and son (who I hope becomes a left-handed pitcher or whatever his heart desires).

What childhood memory do you have about visiting the doctor?
I remember how the orthopedic surgeon showed me on an anatomical model what had happened to my shoulder and how he would fix it, so I could wrestle and play baseball again.
