Dr. Gnaneswer Billakanti, MD

Went to umc for outpatient surgery and for some unknown reason this doctor had me admitted. Never met or seen this doctor. Also tried to change the meds I am taking. Filed a complaint against this doctor.

This physician was my hospitalist while I was hospitalized. Upon discharge after being in the hospital 5 days with meningitis, he was notified by my nurse he had failed to order pain medication for me; he apparently told her he thought I had some at home, when she informed him I did not, he was supposedly going to call in a prescription to my pharmacy. 2 hours later, at the drug store, surprise, he had not phoned in the prescription. I was told by his answering service he was done for the day and I could always go back to the hospital to get medication. Not feeling that I should have to incur another ER bill, I elected to suffer through the night sure he would fix it in the morning. When I called @ 0800 in the morning, they said he would page him immediately. He never phoned, nor did he ever call in a prescription. Luckily, I was able to get a hold of my regular MD who was able to phone in a prescription. Thanks to Dr. Billakanti, I suffered for 20 hours in severe pain and he… never had the decency to even return my phone calls. I do intend to file a complaint with the state board of medicine as well.
