Dr. Gopikiran Thota

I had finally got over my dental anxiety enough to go get the tooth that was dying looked at. I actually had an okay experience at the general dentist who recommended me to go see Dr. Thota for my extractions. He waited until I was all hooked up in the chair ready for surgery to look over my med information and discover he needed me to get clearance from my PCP for surgery... Luckily I had a great experience with my new general dentistry team because it had been a decade between me being able to get into the dentist before now, and if Thota had been my first attempt back into care I don’t think I could do it again. Save yourself the time, emotional pain, and dental trauma and go somewhere else first.

I had two wisdom teeth pulled today by Dr. Thota. I'd been putting it off for years, as I am now 41, but finally decided to go through with it. It was the most peaceful and laid back experience. Dr. Thota and his staff were friendly and informative. He was very down to earth and personable as well as gentle with the IV. Before I knew it I was knocked out. When I awoke, I didn't feel any pain. The assistant rolled me out to my mom's car and now I'm home in bed with my Rx's nearly 5 hours later and feeling fine.

Dr. Thota came highly recommended me by a friend. I was very impressed with his bedside manner and his personal attentiveness to my needs. I would definitely refer my family and friends to him for any oral surgery needs.

Got there early got right in was done in 30 minutes had tooth extraction it was quick easy didn't feel a thing!!

Great work removing my son's wisdom teeth. Dr. Thota gave us his personal cell phone number to call if there was an issue. There was not a problem but it was nice of him to show his comittment to his patient and take responsibility as well as ownership of his work.

Dr Gopi extracted wisdom teeth for my husband and he was very kind. He even gives out his personal cell phone number so you can contact him after surgery. I Do not know any other doctors who would do this!

I liked Castle Dental until today. It wasn't the regular staff. It was the visiting oral surgeon. DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA. They said they were going to sedate me because the local doesn't work on me. THEY CHARGED ME FOR IT . DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA put the iv in my vein. DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA NEVER ADDED THE DRUG. DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA very roughly gave me a couple of shots in my jaw and BEFORE THAT EVEN STARTED WORKING DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA BRUTALLY pulled my teeth like it was the old West. After he started I was so shocked and surprised at his violent unprofessional behaviour I had no idea how to even react. I just gripped the arms of the chair and had four teeth pulled with what was essentially NO ANESTHESIA even though I WAS PAYING FOR IT. The anesthesia problem was the reason I was seeing DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA and not my regular dds in the first place. UNBEARABLE PAIN. At least DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA was quick about it. I guess you have to be when you are brutally… victimizing your patient. I couldn't think of what to do in the moment. It was so unbelievable. Frozen in shock and agony. THE REGULAR STAFF IS KIND GENTLE AND I JUST LOVE THEM. DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA oral surgeon is.... I don't know what to say. I can't even imagine a motive for this. ... And I just found out that DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA BROKE DR PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY with some of the things he said to the person who was driving me home. DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA is my only problem with castle dental though. I'm not sure what this will all come to but I felt that it was important to warn others that DR. GOPIKIRAN THOTA is an unprofessional violent menace. He's just plain sadistic.

After waiting two hours with no apology I endured one of the worst experiences of my life with this dentist. He spoke to me in a demeaning, disrespectful manner, calling me "sweetheart" and ignored my requests that the pain was excessive stating "I only want to help you sweetie". He rushed thru the procedure, tore my lip and used such excessive force he nearly broke my jaw. Go to anyone but him.

The most memorable thing is what this Dr. stated and fid to me, he stated to me right before he stuck me with the needle, "Ms. Demps my staff is here only to help you, and you were not nice to them" and then I passed out. I was there to have several extractions prior to chemo, and the week before I was supposed to have this dental surgery and my blood pressure was too high, so he did not do the surgery, I was referred back to my PCP, and the PCP changed my blood pressure medication and prescribed Xanax, because I am terrified of dentists. I also notified my oncologist and the oncologist stated, " I had to get this oral surgery completed. So, I relunctly called Dr. Thota staff and tried to make an appointment but his staff was very rude stating, "are you sure you can come back becuase you took up a lot of time and we have to squeeze you in".I informed the staff member that I don't want to be squeezed in I just wanted to be taken care of, all of that rushing caused my anxiety to… increase, so lets just find a better date or Dr. Thota can refer me to a different oral surgeon. Dr. Thota staff became more rude and stated, " we don't refer out and you can call Austin Oral surgery or go to a different oral surgeon, at this time I was very angry and told the staff, "im just trying to make a fu----g" appointment and she and the Dr. can discuss the appointment with my oncologist. I hunged up the phone but unfortunately my oncologist nurse called me and inquired when is the dental appointment because I cannot start Chemo until the infection in my mouth is healed and my teeth are removed, I explained to the nurse the conversation with the staff and the oncologist nurse called the dentist office and then called me back and said that thedentist will see me in Kyle. I called the Kyle office and they said they don't perform oral surgery in their office. I called Dr. Thota staff again and they said they had a Bastrop and Killeen opening, so I went to Bastrop at 11am on 8/12/14 at the Castle Dental in Bastrop to have oral surgery by Dr. Thota. I had taken my new blood pressure medication and my Xanax for my increase anxiety and my husband vhecked my blood pressure prior to going to the back for the surgery, I told the staff that I took the Xanax to help me relax and to bring the bliod pressure down and to decrease the fear, the staff verbalized understanding and offer music, I requested Gospel music. Dr. Thota walked in shortly and I told him if he wanted to cut the music off he can. I was dozing off when Dr. Thota stated, "Ms. Demps my staff was only trying to help you and you were not nice to them" and thats when he put the IV in and I passed out, but I woke up 3 times, (which really surprised me, because I usually have a hard time waking up from anesthesia), the first time I woke up Dr. Thota was working on the left side and he was pulling I was crying you are hurting me and I heard the Dr. say, I have to give you another shot, I passed out again and the second time I woke up, he was on my right side and he was pulling on my tooth and I told him you are still hurting me, and I said a prayer, GOD please get him now" and I passed out again and the 3rd time I woke up, I was tied down, and I just prayed to myself, Lord please help me out of here. When it was finally over (9 extractions I think), the Dr. Was not there, only 1 staff member and I was in a lot of pain and I rushed to my husband and got in the car ad quickly as possible. I pray and hope that this oral surgeon, Dr. Thota, never get another patient to abuse again!!!!!

I'd honestly give 0 stars if the option was available. When you need a root extracted because it had broken off during a tooth extraction and a so called expert in oral surgery sends a person to an ENT for a second opinion because of jaw surgery that happened 30 years previous run. Was not at all impressed. There was no reason to refer to an ENT other than pure lack of knowledge, experience, and confidence. Because of previous jaw surgery, there is limit range of movement in the jaw, yet this bozo kept saying open wider? Duh!! Ridiculous! Not pleased at all!
