Dr. Gowrappala Shanmukhapp Ramesh, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Ramesh for over 15 years. However, I have a huge complaint with his current staff and their lack of responsiveness. I asked my pharmacy for approval of refill of a medicine a week ago. They confirmed they have requested this approval 2 or 3 times. On Wed at 2:00 p.m. I left a message with someone called Serena, supposed to be the medical assistant for Dr. Ramesh, about getting this approved. The automated message said all calls would be returned within 24 hours. On Thursday, I had not heard back so I called about 1:00 p.m. and left another message. It is now 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec 2 and I have not had a phone call. This is a very bad way to run a practice. Why has no one had the courtesy to call me?

I've been a long-time patient of Dr. Ramesh's and I will continue to be for as long as he's in business. I can't give this guy enough praise, and I've recommended friends and family members to him. He is very kind and takes the time to listen to me (even remembers little things about me which is nice), and he's pretty good about not over-testing.

Arrived 15 mins early for 1st appointment knowing there would be forms to complete. Told to take a seat on signing in and waited 10 minutes before given forms. Then waited an additional 65 minutes before taken to exam room. 10 minutes later saw doctor who seemed interested and knowledgeable but rushed. Taken to scheduler to make appointment for further tests. She was busy and had to wait again. After 10 minutes asked front desk if she could call me to schedule. 2 days later still waiting. Is this the way to run an office?? Other patients in waiting room stated this was the usual there.

Very happy with his treatment

Following cancer treatment, I contracted C. Diff., an ugly little infection with a high fever and continuous bouts of diarrhea. After one attempt at treatment, Dr. Rajesh asked me if I was better. I was better, better but not cured. He didn't wait for the non-cured part and ran out of my room to write exit orders, even though I was still having 30+ bouts of diarrhea a day. The hospital doctor asked me why he did that and said she would have to reverse that. The nurses were baffled as well. Because I was on a treatment that was only partially successful, I started going downhill fast. Finally a nurse called Ramesh in the middle of the night and he came up wanting to know why I had said I was cured! He started a more effective treatment. I left the hospital after two weeks, having lost 45 pounds and having suffered liver damage. After I left the hospital, I continued to have continuing issues with C. Diff. Every time the symptoms would come back. I would call Dr. Raamesh, he would… never return my call. I would make an appointment, which took a week or more, at which time he would tell me to take a C. Diff. test at Quest. Here's the best part - NEITHER RAMESH OR HIS OFFICE WOULD EVER CALL BACK WITH THE TEST RESULTS. I'd call every day, actually twice a day, and no one would ever call back! Eventually, I would go back to the ER and into the hospital. I finally realized that nothing about him or his office was going to change. I found another gastroenterologist who treated the onset of C. Diff. Moore aggressively and quickly. I have never had full blown C. Diff. Or been in the hospital for it again.

Although I did not like what he had me do, it worked. He answered my questions without hesitation and did not rush me. He worked with my primary care doctor who feels he was the best person for my medical problem.

I have been there several times with serious problems. Always an accurate diagnosis.

Making the first appointment was fast and the appointment date was conveniently soon. But after having the outpatient surgery, I had a concern and called the office in the morning. The individual took down all details and questions. By 6 pm, I had no call back from Dr. Ramesh. Only when complaining loudly to an on call doctor who knew nothing about me, did a message get conveyed to Dr. Ramesh and he called me later that evening. I now cannot even reach a human in the office to make the follow up appointment! I have called 10 times, left multiple voicemails, and was now informed that the entire office is out to lunch at 11.30 am and no one is there to make an appointment! Very poor care. I will not be continuing with this doctor after hearing procedure results.
