Dr. Grace Comaratta Alessi, MD

I'm giving a lower review because I felt she was very body shaming. I saw her a few times and always left feeling terrible about myself and incredibly judged. I was only 15 pounds overweight (not even overweight by a standard BMI) and she made such an emphasis on this. I had a ton of extremely serious health concerns going on that made it nearly impossible to exercise and very challenging to cook healthy. It seemed just cruel and unnecessary to even bring it up. As part of the appointments they do a body fat calculation and measure you all over. In the 3 hour intake and none of the following appointments did she ever ask if I had a history of disordered eating (which I do). But, she did always find time to tell me how I needed to lose weight. I think most functional medicine doctors are very mindful of this, and would only say something like this after understanding your history. If you have a history of disordered eating I would strongly discourage going here.

I worked with Dr. Alessi about 2 years ago and I think she is really knowledgeable about treatment plans and supplements, but the availability is very limited. I sometimes had a bad reaction to the supplements she gave me and I never got my phone call picked up when I would call to ask questions. Sometimes I would get a call back days later, but most of the time no call back. The most they could offer me was an appt with the nutritionist, which I had to pay for, and I would be told to just eat more protein and eat more fat and to ease off the supplements. This was very frustrating because when I'm throwing up from a supplement, eating more protein and fat is not what I need. I stopped working with her after a few months because I felt like I was an inconvenience to her and her staff. But I do think that her knowledge is amazing and if you want to do her protocols without any support, then this could be a good fit for you.

I have learned more about my body and preventative healthcare in the past months than I have in decades! Grace understands her patients history and will walk any journey with them to help them fell better!

Both her staff and her are very unavailable. Neither are appropriately responsive to vital health questions in a timely fashion. She heavily diagnoses gut problems for the majority of her patients with an expensive protocol. Not impresses.

6 Months and $2500 later out of pocket, my wife is still putting up with her symptoms. A bit of the "let's try this next" method from the doc. So frustrated with "these specialist".

If you're interested in total wellness, not just a quick fix with a prescription, Dr. Alessi is the doctor for you! She goes above and beyond to solve your medical mysteries. I highly recommend her! She has influenced both my husband and I to make significant life style changes in order to better our health.

I highly recommend Dr. Grace Alessi. During our visit she took the time to understand me, my lifestyle, my medical history. Her approach is refreshing and uncommon. I didn't feel rushed and I felt like she really cared and wants to get to the root of the problem rather than just curing my symptoms. Thank you.
