Dr. Gregory Edward Barbier, MD

A bummer read, but people need to hear about it. Chronic pain sufferers and those in withdrawals are treated as sub-humans. This is my first complaint/action of many I’ll be talking against Dr. Barbier of Georgia Emergency Associates: “I went to the ER and sat there for 3 hours squirming in pain, with diarrhea and the worst anxiety because of a bind that Dr. Steven Corse and Healthgram insurance has put me in with my Butrans patch for my severe, chronic and debilitating pain. I had failed back surgery in 2018, which is what necessitates me being on this drug. I’ve been out of my Butrans (a C3, mind you) for nearly two weeks because my *new* pain management doctor can’t get what Dr. Corse did rectified. I’m with nothing. The withdrawals legitimately took about two weeks to set in. Once I could no longer stand it, I went to Candler ER for help. I needed something to pull me out of pain so that my husband could go to work while I care for our child. Dr. Gregory E. Barbier told me it… wasn’t appropriate to give me anything. He said I looked healthy and that I didn’t LOOK like I was in withdrawals, otherwise he might’ve given me a suboxone. He offered all these other drugs that he knows I already have at home (he looked in my records, so he knew better. So because I did not LOOK to be in pain or any withdrawals … I got nothing. Because I didn’t LOOK to be having suicidal ideations, it didn’t warrant him giving me anything. He walks off to get discharge papers and I left before he could return. What was left to do? He wouldn’t help me. Dr Corse wouldn’t help me. The insurance won’t help me. Do you want me to die? This is serious crap I’m talking about here. These are thoughts I have (no plans, just thoughts). You people treat others with pain as sub-humans and that’s just the facts. I am terrified of this happening again and not being to get anyone to help me out of pain or withdrawals. I’m a wife and a mother of a 6 year old autistic son that needs me. Not a seeker. Shame on you! Get ready for the formal complaint. It’s coming.”

Gregory Barbier, MD did a wonderful job (as well as Bri, the RN) with taking care of my wife during a late night visit to the ER. Their demeanor, friendliness, and kindness was truly on display, and made a tough and very painful situation, much more tolerable. Dr Barbier and his staff in the ER are true professionals and did a great job treating my wife. Hope that he reads this post. Thanks Dr. Barbier!
