Dr. Gregory F Bell, DDS

Dr. Bell is the BEST! He is one of the most professional and caring dentists I have gone to over the last 20 plus years. I have complete trust in his diagnosis and treatment. He is a prior instructor at UNM for upcoming dentists and really knows his business. He not only has taken care of my gums over the years, including several surgeries, I chose him (he is an "in-network" dentist) for a dental implant this past year - his work was perfection! I found him to be very reasonable with his cost and treatment. And, lets face it - Dr. Bell is having to deal with patients who refuse to take care of their teeth/gums over the years and do not want to pay up front when it is time for treatment after years of neglect. My best friend is a dental hygienist, and referred me to Dr. Bell - I owe her a debt of gratitude! I truly believe had I not gone to Dr. Bell on a regular basis over the years, I would be in big trouble with my teeth and gums! Thank you, Dr. Bell, for your years of … excellent work for your patients! I would give you a SIX star rating if it were possible! (On another note - my husband's front tooth crown came off some time ago, and he was unable to get into our regular dentist to put the crown back on. And, he had an important meeting in Taos that afternoon. I called Dr. Bell and he cemented the crown back on for my husband during his lunch hour. What great customer service, and my husband was so pleased to be able to attend his meeting and deliver his speech with a smile! Dr. Bell never charged us for this service!)

I am an individual in my 40's who has dealt with many doctors for many reasons...many routine visits to the dentist, orthodontics for a few years, surgeries for wisdom teeth and orthodontics and believe myself to be a pretty reasonable person when it comes to doctors and procedures. This is why I feel compelled to voice my concern regarding recent treatment during a recent visit to Dr. Greg Bell's office. Going into my appointment, I had the realization of needed services...had planned to schedule the needed oral surgery and had only the consultation and "firming up" of the plan to complete prior to scheduling. Based on a good referral, I scheduled with Dr. Bell and arranged the appointment. Once into the office and in the patient chair, Dr. Bell proceeded to examine my mouth and rattled off a variety of readings pertinent to my mouth condition as expected and went into the why's and what for's regarding the required surgery. This was fine and expected as part of the… routine...standard procedure as expected. Next, Dr. Bell took me into a conference office where he began a sales pitch for the required work going into depth as to why this surgery was required. -He followed this up by detailing the expense and finances of thie surgery. At this point, I thought I had mistakenly entered Greggs Buy and Drive used car lot. "Selling" me on a surgery I kenw was required and "pitching" me on the expense. (For which I have insurance anyway.) Finally, when leaving the office and in the process of scheduling the surgery, I was notified of a "must pay" 125.00 consultation fee due at that time which had never been mentioned previously. In summary, I find this office of questionable professionalism and procedurally far off from the norm. I am not allowing this group to touch my mouth and I would suggest a LONG look prior to scheduling your own visit to this office.
