Dr. Gregory Murray Graves, MD

Dr. Graves did my surgery which involved removing the tumor and rectal vault without leaving me with an ostomy. He is a miracle worker. I'm so grateful to him. I did have followup chemo and radiation but have been cancer free for 21 years.

Dr Graves is a no nonsense doctor that makes you feel comfortable at the same time letting you know what he thinks should be done. He performed a Whipple procedure on me and explained everything to my husband and myself. He came to Sutter Health every day to see me and was very pleased with the way I was able to get around and walk the next day. I would highly recommend him for consult and the Whipple surgery. My husband and I have no concerns at this time with his ability.

Experienced and caring

I saw Dr. Graves for what was diagnosed as a small tumor on my pancreas through a CT, and biopsy. After he read the report, he came to a conclusion that the tumor wasn't yet malignant, but that it will be, so we need to remove it when he came back from vacation 3 weeks later. Dr Graves never looked at the film himself, as he is a busy man, and had no time, so he just took the written word of the radiologist. When Graves opened me up, he found a malignant tumor 4 times the size as previously thought. He removed 75% of my pancreas. Pathology report said it had metastasized into the margin. Bottom line, Graves kept me in ICU for over 5 months, on the pretense my cancer is gone. He neglected to tell me about the fistula, that destroyed my digestive system, and I literally starved to death. Dr. Graves lied to me and my family, just to save his ego. The pancreatic leak came about because of his botched surgery, but my lord did he get paid for it. Thanks for the 6 months of pain and misery… Doc.

Dr. Graves performed a difficult procedure on my Father, taking extra time to save most of the lung when he expected him to lose the entire lobe. Thank you Dr. Graves.

It has been 15 years since Dr. Graves removed my thyroid, so admittedly I don't remember his office staff etc. But what I DO remember is him really going over the surgery, and I have the smallest scar, completely unnoticeable. About 3" across my neck. My parathyroids are still in tact. I had to have the surgery twice, two weeks apart, and you cannot see my scar AT ALL. Great surgeon. Good bedside manner... took time to explain and not condescend to a 17 year old girl concerned with her scar.

I never saw the surgeon following my cancer surgery, only an intern who spoke exceptionally poor English; it's been 5 years and the lymph node area remains swollen and painful for which I received recent treatment from a different clinician. A regrettable choice in choosing Dr. Graves.

I honestly believe that the reason I am alive today is because of Dr Graves. I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer 5 years ago and he performed the Whipple surgery. Dr Grave was well liked by the staff on the floor I was on and he showed great concerns for my well being.

I found out I had lung cancer over a year ago and was referred to Dr. Graves. I said absolutely NO chemo or radiation!! Dr. Graves suggested "ablation" and I agreed. Thanks to Dr. Graves I've enjoyed a healthy & happy 18 months. I urge anyone fighting this dreadful disease to see Dr. Graves.. I'm sure you won't be disappointed....he's the BEST!!!
