Dr. Gregory Garrett Gunsten, MD

My son, 6 years old with Asperger's Syndrome, saw Dr. Gunsten for an infected toe. The doctor felt it necessary to make an incission and push the infection out by hand. My son did not get a shot to numb the pain and during the procedure he was clearly frightened and hurting. The doctor complained that my son was too loud and later refused to let him pick something from the "tresure drawer." One week prior to this, my daughters each received shots and yelled, screamed, and cried while they were being given. My son was a witness to this and also saw when they each got something from the "treasure drawer."A child with Asperger's does not understand, nor do I, why yelling and screaming by one (for a shot) is acceptable, and his actions were not.Dr. Gunston clearly needs help in dealing with children and parents. His bedside manner was disturbing and upsetting, and his rude attitude has forced us to find another provider. I hope and pray that another family does not have to bring… their children to Dr. Gunston and I would not be surprised if this is one of many complaints he receives.
