Dr. Gregory John Lareau, MD

I went in for a consultation for past hemmorroid flare up. He took into an examination room and what I expected to be a consultation titled out to be an actual procedure of the most painful type. He stuck a scope in my anal cavity and told me I had internal hemorrhoids and without asking me if I wanted the procedure done he started stapling them causing me so much pain I thought I was going to pass out. I was sweating profusely from the extreme pain and I got nauseous. He told me I could leave but I was in so much pain o could brother walk nor drive. I actually cried like an infant due to the pain. I told him I wanted the bands out because I couldn’t tolerate the pain and he said he had never removed them before. I told him that the brochure he had given me at some point I’m the conversation said there should not be pain only discomfort and that they should be removed if there is any pain. He got angry and again said he had never removed any bands after procedures. Sometime later he… came into the room I was in resting on a surgical table crying with pain and he was angry and started calling me Sir .. asking if I was ready to remove the bands but said he wasn’t happy about it. The nurse then suggested I try going home and lay in a cold tub. I asked the dr if there would be bleeding upon removal of bands he said oh yeah there will be bleeding . I then took the suggestion of the nurse and Decided to just go home since I didn’t trust the doctor to keep me safe since he was adamant about not wanting to reverse the procedure.. when I left the room I was in the doctor saw me leave an didn’t even have a parting word for . He treated me worse than an animal. I then got into my car and I had to drive on my side as I could not stand the pain . When I got home the pain got worse and it continued unabated for three days it only became bearable on Sunday (the operation was on Thursday) I could not sleep or eat and my whole body hurt . I found it extremely painful to have a bowel Movement as well . I had to give myself an anema in order to eliminate . I plan on seeing primary care doctor tomorrow (Monday) to discuss this horrible traumatic experience and see where I should go from here. The worst of it is that what I was going in for was external hemmoroids that have caused me a lot of pain and make it difficult to keep area clean and he didn’t even touch those. This whole episode was a disaster and I am considering my options going forward in dealing with the physical and emotional trauma from this.

As another review stated, avoid if possible.

Dr. Lareau is a knowlegeable and friendly medical professional. He always takes the time to listen to my concerns and provide practical advice and solutions to my medical needs. He has done a good job with the actually procedures themselves, which have been minor in scope. I would recommend Dr. Lareau for any general surgery needs as he is experienced and caring.
