Dr Messner joins us from Houston where he completed his cardiothoracic residency under the direction of Dr Denton Cooley at the world renowned Texas Heart Institute. In addition to training in thoracic surgery at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr Messner also has completed additional training in heart failure and mechanical assist devices by Dr OH Frazier. Dr Messner has worked in the Cullen Cardiovascular Reasearch Institute and published widely in the field of cardiopulmonary transplant and assist devices. Dr Messner has special expertise in the areas of coronary artery surgery, thoracic surgery, valve, carotid and peripheral artery and endovascular surgery as well as off pump coronary artery bypass.
