Dr. Gregory Truitt Sherr, MD

I was first told I needed lumbar fusion (L2-S1) in 1996, I was 26 years old. The surgery was too extensive and risky so I lived in extreme pain and very medicated until 2011. I had finally had enough and was seeing a surgeon in Sartell, MN. She was not very confident that my pain would be reduced enough for me to get off of opiates but was willing to give it the old college try. Due to circumstances beyond both of our control, she was ultimately unable to do the surgery (her pregnancy would be too far along to stand for how long it would take). Dr Sherr agreed to take my case. He told me that while my back was in extremely bad shape, I had done very well at minimizing the progression. He was VERY confident that if I followed his instructions to the T following surgery, I would be able to do things I had never been able to in my adult life like sitting on the floor and playing with kids (now grandkids) or riding a snowmobile. He made me feel confident in the procedure but never… downplayed my risks. The surgery didn't go as expected....my L4 was so unstable that the surgery went from a planned 2 hours to a 4 1/2 hours! The recovery was BRUTAL. But, he was right. I'm ten years post-op and my only regret was I didn't find him sooner. I followed his instructions for recovery and have been almost pain free for a decade. Of course, with this large of a fusion, there is a loss of some flexibility...no twerking for me...but the lack of pain is worth not being able to embarrass my children.

He deserves 0 stars. He did not step one foot into my sisters room while she was in the hospital. His PA would come once a day to relay what tests he wants to order. When we requested to see him to speak with him we were told hee would come by the following day and he never came. How can practice medicine without ever seeing the patient? Never doing a physical exam? Pure laziness and shameful behavior. He should have his license to be revoked.

in 2012 on Feb 9th, I was rush to St. Cloud Hospital MN, for emergency brain tumor surgery as well as Hydrocephalus, when i finally woke up, in the middle of the night Dr. Sherr came to me and we talked... that conversation changed my whole life, I strongly believe he was the only doctor that could have performed this procedure with minimal scarring and minimal recovery, my recovery lasted over 4 years with mental illness and weakness being prominent, but even through all of that hardship i truly think Dr. Sherr was sent to help me at that exact time, this man is a miracle

This doctor is dead wrong and someone that’s close to me told me that doctor Mr.sherr told the lady to do that to me but my god he is going to get in trouble

Dr. Sherr has done three spinal surgeries on me. He is caring, gentle, extremely knowledgeable and very nice to interact with him. He takes time to answer your questions as well as explain his thoughts and procedures. I highly recommend him.

I was told by him that having my stenosis taken care of was a no risk to my being paralyized. HA!! I ill be using a walker the rest of my life and he not once came to talk to me about what happened.
