Dr. Gregory Wilkins Thompson, MD

This is a fantastic dermatologist in San Antonio. He truly cares about his patients, and you can see that through his staff. Never felt rushed and always took time with me. I would highly recommend this skin doctor to anybody.

I have been a patient of Dr. Thompson for many years. He is an excellent doctor. He always demonstrates a caring and compassionate demeanor. He correctly diagnoses and cares for my skin conditions of which I have had some real concerns. He always explains my conditions and puts me at ease with treatment plans. Thank you, Dr. Thompson!

Dr. Thompson insists that Corticosteroids shots would be affective in showing results for Alopecia Areata treatment which would possibly lead to hair growth, which advanced to Alopecia Universalis. No good results came of it . The treatment caused blood pressure issues. It's like they expect you to not work. I don't have easy access to water, unless I quit my job. Steroids dry you out. This guy needs to change his story.

Was in San Antonio for a work trip (I live in Dallas) & needed a dermatologist for a skin infection I had developed somehow while I was there (don't ask me, I'm not a doctor). I was referred to this doctor by a work colleague who is from SA and had been seeing this physician since he was a kid. What a breath of fresh air this office was relative to my own dermatology office in Dallas! He's the epitome of what medicine used to be like 25 years ago. Single provider office with reasonable pricing, not trying to upsell you on a bunch of creams they're selling from some third party for a profit, you get to see the actual doctor (not some helper, assistant, or whatever), VERY short wait time, etc. Honestly I wish he was in Dallas, because I'd change providers in a heart beat & without any hesitation. I cannot recommend highly enough that you try this physician if you're looking for a dermatologist and/or considering changing providers.

Dr Thompson is a very nice man, but I had a problem with a bill, and his billing person, DIANE, unfortunately, is a very rude, callous and non-mannered person. I tried to reach her for three days. She finally told me I could come and talk to her in the office the next day. I asked her specifically what time would be convenient for her, and she said anytime at all, she would be there all day. I arrived at 11:30am and was told she was out to lunch and would return in 30 minutes. My husband and I left and when we returned 40 minutes later, the receptionist told us she had talked to Diane, told her we were waiting, but that Diane had said she would not return until 2:00pm! I asked what was going on and the nice receptionist told me she didn’t know. When Diane finally got to the office she asked me very rudely, what did I want. I told her that as we discussed on the phone the day before, I was coming in so she could explain the overage charge of $93.86. Diane very rudely told… me she didn’t have anything to discuss with me and completely brushed me off. I was shocked! I asked her why she was being rude and why had she told me to come in and talk to her and then wait 2 1/2 hours for her when she was not willing to sit down and talk to me! She then told me she was also the office manager and didn’t have to speak to me. I asked to talk to Dr. Thompson and she said No! Just then Dr Thompson came out of his office and I asked him from the waiting room if I could please have 5 minutes of his time. He very kindly said, of course, come in. Just then Diane went running behind him talking to him. Dr Thompson then turned to me and asked why I was upset about a $40 charge. FORTY DOLLAR BILL? I explained IT WAS A $93.86 Charge and NOT A $40.00 charge as Diane had told him. I explained to Dr. Thompson all I had asked for was an explanation for the $93.86 discrepancy in a civilized manner from Diane. Instead, I told Dr Thompson that I had never been treated with such rudeness and disrespect as Diane had treated us! Diane began to argue and Dr Thompson motioned her to be quiet. Dr. Thompson was apologetic for Diane’s rude and unprofessional behavior and even reduced the bill. I thanked Dr Thompson but told him I could no longer receive treatment in an office with such an unprofessional, uncaring and ill-mannered person as Diane.

Love his doctor-patient relationship. ALWAYS explains everything BEFORE he does it and what to expect. Waits are within acceptable time frame.

Dr. Thompson is fantastic: he listens to me, makes me feel much better about everything, especially when he found cancer on my face. He's very relaxed, but very confident and knowledgeable. I trust him with my life.
