Dr. Gregory Charles Zwack, MD

Here's a revised version of your review: --- I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Dr. Zwack at Wilmington Health. Following a car accident, I sustained a nose injury that caused difficulty breathing through my right nostril. My primary doctor diagnosed a deviated septum via an X-ray and referred me to an ENT specialist. Unfortunately, my encounter with Dr. Zwack was far from satisfactory. Upon entering the examination room, Dr. Zwack asked me to describe my symptoms. When I inquired if he had reviewed my X-ray, he dismissively replied that he treats the patient, not the X-ray. He then conducted a cursory examination using long tweezers, without proper lighting, and declared that everything was fine. Despite my ongoing breathing difficulties, he insisted there was no issue and hurriedly concluded the appointment, warning me to be cautious if any other doctor recommended surgery. Ironically, I later received an email from his office with instructions on how to treat… a broken nose, despite his previous assertion that nothing was wrong. My inquiries about this contradiction went unanswered. Seeking a second opinion, I consulted three other ENT specialists. Each conducted thorough examinations and confirmed that I have both a deviated septum and a nasal valve collapse, conditions Dr. Zwack failed to identify. My appointment with Dr. Zwack lasted less than three minutes, and it was evident that he lacked compassion and genuine concern for my condition. His dismissive attitude and inadequate examination protocols were deeply concerning. I regret not reading his reviews beforehand and strongly urge Wilmington Health to reconsider employing a physician who demonstrates such disregard for patient care.

Dr didn't seem to really care, wrote me off as allergies. Wrote me a 90 day script for Singulair, which is for Asthma, after 10 days when that didn't help he had me try OTC nasal spray, after 2 weeks with Nasacort and no results he recommended I give it another week and wrote me another 90 day script for Singular. Now I don't have any allergies to anything and have chronic nasal congestion for over 15 years. I have so much trouble breathing through my nose I was really hoping for someone to help but instead I'm very disappointed and out over $400.

I love Dr. Zwack! We have used him for along time and I have referred my friends when they need an ENT doctor. He has always taken his time with me and he cares about what my problems are. I just had a visiting family member get hit with a surfboard in the face while on vacation here. Even though Dr. Zwack was slammed work , as a favor to me, he saw my cousin. My cousin now loves him too!

Dr. Zwack has been my Otolaryngologist for four years. He has even went the extra effort to call me personally with my concerns with my health

I went in to get my nose fixed, one nostril bigger than the other, we went over it several times and even sent pics to Ins. Co. He removed tissue from the inside and never touched the outside. I interviewed this guy before having surgery, 4 years later, I am so disappointed. Find someone that is going to do what you ask them to do, after all you are the one paying.

This doctor is very smart and knowledgeable. I had a rare ear problem none of the other ENT doctors in town were able to diagnose ( yet they had no problem charging me!) . He did , I had the surgery and thank god I'm ok now. It was a blessing that I found him and he saved my hearing!!

Dr. Zwack tried to push my mother into signing a surgical consent. She was found to have a huge tumor in her sinus cavity, at the time it had not even been biopsied. His plan was to "get her in the OR that week & simply remove it." He did not know that I was an OR nurse, now specializing in clinical research & knowing all about ethical principals of Informed Consent process (kept that to myself). As my mom & I asked questions, he minimized our concerns & the risks. He actually interrupted one of her questions, to open the door & call his nurse to ask her for a consent form & tell her to call the OR to book this surgery on his next open day! When I spoke up & said we'd like to get a second opinion, he seemed offended and really became insistent that she sign the consent. My mother said later, "Had you not been with me, I would have signed it because he told me to, but I didn't feel good about it at all." A few days later, we saw another local ENT (with 30 yrs experience), who… said he would not even touch this tumor & referred her to UNC Chapel Hill. The following week, an ENT at Chapel Hill biopsied the tumor, which was found to be a rare malignant tumor. They did more extensive tests & it was found to be very close to/ possibly invasive of her brain and wrapped around her optic nerve. So the Chapel Hill doctor said "We are getting a team of doctors together, including a neurosurgeon, to carefully plan this surgery, which will be extremely complicated." She had a chance of loosing her eye at worst, or her eyesight at best. After a 9 hr surgery, taking out a piece of her skull & part of the dura (covering of the brain) & carefully dissecting around the optic nerve...they saved her eye! AND she has good vision now. She went through 6 wks radiation, but is doing very well (3 yrs later). Thank God that we got a second opinion & did not allow this physician to over estimate his abilities & hastily move forward. Had he simply taken her to surgery for the removal of this tumor, I strongly believe the outcome would have been much different.

DR.ZWACK IS A VERY GOOD SURGEN,HE TAKES HIS TIME WITH YOU AND WILL EXPLAIN ANYTHING YOU ASK OF HIM.ALWAYS VERY POLITE.

Very professional. Thorough examination. Good diagnosis. Full explanation of problems. Friendly and easy to converse with.
