Dr. Gretchen Vanhauer, MD

Dr. VH is a narcissist who does not listen to her patients!! She diagnosed me incorrectly and it stuck with my records. She made sure of that. I took FIVE MMPIs, and they didn't show this diagnosis. Several doctors have disagreed with her findings. She should not have a medical license and is incapable of empathy. Biggest regret.

I tried to stick with her sine, as she said, she's SO VALUABLE, but I found her presumptuous and presuming. She really didn't listen very well at all.

I only needed to see Gretchen Vanhauer one time before realizing she was not competent. My first appointment was cancelled and the office tried to tell me I would need to wait an additional six weeks to get a new appointment. However, she did correct this by squeezing me in for a half hour initial consultation before her appointment day actually began. Upon arrival, she explained to me that the entire office was overwhelmed due to another Dr. having left and the office was rescheduling and doing their best to see as many patients as possible. I continue have the same issues that she describes as over-dramatic in her initial one half hour review. Her report was so negative in regard to my condition it caused my Social Security to be denied. I hardly think this woman was able to give a proper diagnoses upon seeing me one time for a half hour. The only reason her report was included in my documents is because she was with the same establishment (Allina). I am now waiting for a meeting… with a judge regarding my case and will discuss their decision based on her extremely limited time spent with me. I will also be filing a complaint in regard to her level of appropriateness.

Gretchen is the kind of psychiatrist that I hear so many persons 'wish' they could have. Gretchen is a listener, not a pill pusher. She does make adjustments based on follow-up appointments as necessary.Gretchen is the most compassionate, yet profressional doctor that I have had in the 24 years of dealing with my mental health.Gretchen will challenge in a very respectful manner. My take is...why go to a doctor if you know everything. I've taken chances on her advice and she's never failed me. Besides her psychiatrict designation, she also has a degree in neurological disorders which compliments her knowledge of what mental illness is anad is not. I hope she stays at Abbott Outpatient Mental Health as long as I need a psychiatrist. I had grown weary of pill pushers, without listening to me.Call and make your appointment. You will see a remarkable difference in Gretchen's professionalism in comparison to most providers in the mental health field.
