I felt very confident she was making the right decisions for our critically ill baby. She sat with me when I was feeling anxious and took the time to listen. I felt we were in excellent care.

The best of the best! She was such an amazing doctor during our son's 4 month stay at Children's. She was kind, gentle and funny too. She was definitely top notch in our eyes. ??

Well this blew up. I’m happy to have a break from all the strike talk. I was a nurse with “Gretchen” at Childrens. To put it simply she is a nightmare to work with and makes our job miserable. We love babies. We love parents. We love helping. She made it so so so hard to do our job, constantly changing plans, making snide remarks, attacking people. I don’t know what to tell parents other than stand up for yourself. Advocate for your baby. Nurses - good luck. She’s gone from here and I am so sorry if you have her now. Nurses rule!

First the good news! Our daughter is doing well and growing up to be a healthy big girl! We had our annual NICU parent reunion with friends a bit ago and we talked (and cried) about what we wish we had known ahead of time or had been prepared for as a NICU mom. First, the discussion boards are a great way to connect, we stay on them even now to share hope, there are lots of discussions going on with this very topic right now. Second, the nurses run the show! Make friends with the nurses. Third, keep yourself healthy! Sleep when you can, but also love that baby like crazy. Fourth, feel empowered to speak up when things don’t feel right tell the staff when they are hurting you with their words, or blowing off your concerns. YOU are the parent, and YOU have a say in your baby’s care. Dr. Voge is one of those doctors who doesn’t listen to anyone and made all of the parents feel worse when she would be with us. I wish we had said more at the moment but we had no energy for conflict and… really didn’t realize we could say anything. Share your frustrations with other parents and the nurses. THEY CAN HELP YOU! Don’t allow the beautiful first few days of your baby’s life to be tarnished by single people who bring their insensitive aura to the space and journey your family is in.

I’m got really sick of hearing this from her. I knew it’s going to be hard having a baby to care for, but you all know what else is hard—how can people not imagine this? Leaving my baby alone with her who doesn’t have time to soothe her quickly every time she’s unsettled. Driving to and from the NICU every day. Only seeing my partner when he is frazzled and overwhelmed after said drive following a full day of work. Having a uterine infection and having to shuffle to and from home to car to hospital and back again. Hearing the beeps all day. So many beeps. The cries of other people’s babies who are so much sicker than mine, all day long. Seeing the parents of a drug affected baby scream at the nurses in the next room, and the fear that they could storm through our space next. The fear that my baby will have permanent disabilities, or will struggle at school, or not even make it that far. And she gives no real answers. One day she told my partner he bets he’s… glad to have nurses caring for the baby overnight, because it means he can get some sleep. I’m so glad he responded “actually, I’m just glad that she’s not dead.” Ugggg! being in this situation and screw all the people who seek to think it’ll be worse to know our baby is safe and well enough to come home. No matter how hard it is it can’t be worse than this.

The ice queen! Doesn’t listen, talks over you, laughs at the wrong times! Does the opposite of what she should

i think there needs to be basic vetting of people and their personalities she is not a good fit as a doctor and i fear that she may do more harm than good with how she treats people

I came over here from the neonatal parent discussion board to add my two cents. Overall our care for our child was great (this was a while ago) but this doctor does stand out as a negative and toxic member of a great team. It wasn't that she did anything wrong, it was how she treated the people around her including the parents, techs, and nurses. I know the discussion is very lively online right now about her given recent events, but this seems to be a result of a pattern of behavior - not an isolated experience. I don't have specifics that I wish to go into but wanted to add my perspective.

We had a hard night with our baby. She was so insensitive and cold. She laughed when we cried and made our night so horrible. The nurses were great and apologizes for how she acted toward us.

My son mentioned that he left a review about this doctor and I just could not keep quiet myself. Our experience with her was horrendous - we left each encounter in tears and the worst part is I think she was completely oblivious to it. I worried about the baby when she was around and always prayed that another doctor would be around for an emergency. As I parent I used to say - stay away from people who just have no sense - and she is exactly that. Watching the nurses constantly fixing her mistakes, calming down patients who were upset after talking to this terrible doctor, and dealing with her bad decisions all the time made my heart sad. The hospital really needs to reconsider their priorities with this one!
