Dr. Guillermo Portillo JR., MD

I found this doctor to be rather pretentious. I didn't find his diagnosis particularly accurate (I have been a patient of a number of psychiatrists over the past 20 years). This aforesaid comment is based on my experience. You may find him excellent.

I saw to Dr. Portillo for 1 hour -- paid $300. I told him that I believed I was bipolar and he disagreed, yet he still said I should go on a mood stabilizer. However, he said he couldn't prescribe it (isn't he a doctor?!?). I left that day feeling awful. He said nothing and didn't help at all. Worst of all, he didn't believe me when I told him that I was positive I had bipolar disorder. Well, a few months later I checked myself into the hospital due to the increased severity of my manic episodes. About a week after that I went to a fantastic psychiatrist (who I still see) and I was diagnosed with BPD and put on a mood stabilizer. Maybe if Dr. Portillo had listened to me and prescribed the mood stabilizer months before, I would have never have had to go through what I did. Awful.
