Dr. Gulnar Parveen Poorsattar, MD

Sorry if this is long, but it is important. When I first went to Dr Poorsattar, she was very personable, and listened to all my concerns, writing notes on a sheet of paper and a laptop. She will do both in-person and telephone appointments. At one point she stated that she was the best endocrinologist in the county. On subsequent appointments, she did not remember what was discussed in the prior appointments, so I would have to remind her of what we discussed, then she would start a new page of notes. In addition, no matter when my appointment time was, it would be at least an hour waiting in the exam room before she would get to me. This happened on each subsequent in-office visit. She was more timely on the telephonic appointments though. After seeing me, I scheduled my next in-office visit before I left. Subsequently, I ended up in the hospital for a major operation, and could not make my next appointment. From my hospital bed, over two weeks before the scheduled appointment, I… called the office and told them I was cancelling my appointment. I had to reiterate twice to the staff member on the phone that I was not going to be able to make it, and didn't know when I could make it in the future, so I was not going to reschedule yet. A couple of days before the appointment that I had already cancelled, the office called me to remind me of my upcoming appointment. I again reiterated to the office person that I had previously cancelled my appointment due to being in the hospital, and that I was unable to make the appointment. The day of the cancelled appointment, I got a call from Dr Poorsattar's office. I again advised the office member that I was in the hospital. Moments later, Dr Poorsattar herself got on the phone and started asking me questions. I advised her that I had previously cancelled the appointment. She continued asking general questions about why I was in the hospital. Not once did she or any of her staff indicate that this was now a telephone appointment. I was trying to be cordial, but didn't want to answer any more questions. After a couple of minutes, we ended the conversation. Three weeks later, I get a notification that my health insurance had been billed for an "in-person" appointment by Dr Poorsattar. I immediately called the office, and Dr Poorsatter told me that she never knew that the appointment had been cancelled, and that since she had spoken to me, the appointment was billed as normal. I immediately filed a grievance with my insurance company. Dr Poorsattar told them that they were completely unaware of any cancellation and that by personally speaking with me on the phone, services had been rendered in good faith. This is a lie. This behavior in unscrupulous, and in my opinion, unethical. Take that as you will.

Dr. Poorsattar has been kind, compassionate, and caring in the course of being my mother’s doctor for years. She’s far more attentive and thorough than any other physician I’ve come across. We’re so thankful for her being in our lives.

Waited over an hour to be seen, repeatedly asked receptionist if the doctor received all the test results( the reason we were there) and even though she said they didn’t have them and we asked that they call the surgeon’s office and get them, she didn’t. Dr Poorsattar finally came in and was confused, didn’t even know that My husband had the surgery she sent him for nor did she review his chart beforehand, unable to get any info and said we should call the surgeon the next day and get them for her since now it was after 5 and office of surgeon was closed. I had to call and get results for her and then she didn’t return repeated calls. When she finally called( days later) she was confused and said she didn’t know what to do, wasn’t sure what the pathology report meant even though it was reviewed by several doctors, or what treatment my husband should have next, said we should have it sent to a different lab. Meanwhile she finally did ask how he was feeling since having a complete… thyroidectomy and then said he should up his meds but never called in the prescription. Oh did I mention that my husband has thyroid cancer and she is the doctor who diagnosed this and sent him for surgery BUT NEVER FOLLOWED UP....I could go on and on and on about how unprofessional and scatterbrained she is but I think my opinion is clear. I would NEVER go back nor recommend her.

I was so happy to find a doctor close by well what a joke that was, she said I had blood infection, gave me sulfar Diabetic drugs and said I have some problem and have to sleep with my hands in the air. She gave me the wrong blood work, her staff is a joke she will book you for appt even though you already have one. Her office is strange rooms do not have any medical stuff in them. At least the Camarillo Office does not. Her office staff does not know how to use the computer you wait so long, and all and all she is a and should possible retire!

Wait time for appts were hour+ after appt time, then see’s you for 5-10 minutes, part of the time is spent coming in and out of room, yelling at her receptionist to do this and that. Seems knowledgeable, but doesn’t give you the time of day/appt you’ve been waiting for. Took several days after stating she would request surgery to my insurance to do so, even though she knew I was in severe pain/couldn’t eat solid food. When I asked why do you schedule appts so close?, she just shrugged shoulders and said ‘well the person I saw before you was very sick too.’ If I can keep from it, I will never go back there. Worst doctor experience EVER.

My wife went to see Dr. Poorsattar to get her thyroid checked. Dr. Poorsattar did not listen to her at all when she tried to describe the tests she has been through, her symptoms, or family history. She let the room twice during the appointment to see other patients that she left before finishing with them before seeing my wife. When my wife disagreed with her, Dr. Poorsattar asked who the doctor was and started making fun of us because we are from another state. I would not recommend anyone to get and don’t understand how she has patients if this is how she treats them.

Miss diagnosed me! NEVER returned numerous phone calls!!! Staff when calling the office will put u on HOLD HOPING you'll hang up!!!! If u want to feel worse than u already do then make an as appt

Dr. Poorsattar is very patient and explains things very well. She is very willing to give the time to talk about test results. She is very thorough when it comes to the patients health care. I would recommend her very highly as a physician.

Dr. Poorsattar was very helpful and her diagnosis was correct. She took the time to answer all my questions. Yes I would recommend her. I will continue to be treated by her.
