Dr. Gulnara Tarpe, DO

Very caring and very helpful doctor. Great personality and easy to get along with. She answers all your questions and takes time to answer all your questions. She makes sure you understand things before you leave her office. I highly recommend her. Best doctor I have had yet. I'm keeping this doctor she is great!

I really don't understand how anyone could give Dr. Tarpe a good rating or review, unless you come to her with something as trivial as a common cold, which would be pretty hard to misdiagnose. The first thing I noticed was that she comes across really arrogant, kind of like she was belittling you. Anything more complicated than a common cold seems to be too much work for her to put in any effort in trying to find out what is going on. She ignores low values on a blood test and leaves the patient alone, trying to figure out what is going on. She then dismisses any possibilities the patient comes up with (and what are you to do if you have symptoms your doctor simply doesn't care about?) and claims that it couldn't possibly be that the patient has this or that. After presenting her with facts (though admittedly from reading on the internet, but I'm not talking forums but info sites like Mayo Clinic or the national library of medicine) she suddenly turns 180º and admits she doesn't… know anything about that condition - and in my book that means she is unqualified to diagnose this, which would be ok, but she has no right to claim that a patient does not have a condition when she doesn't know the first thing about it. She never takes a look at blood results SHE ordered before seeing the patient in a follow-up, and she never seems to know why I am in her office when it was her who told me to schedule a follow-up the last time. She makes you feel like you're a nuisance to her, taking away precious time of hers she would rather spend doing something else. The worst thing is that sometimes you come to her with a problem, and she goes "and what am I supposed to do about that?". Well, how about your f*cking job for a change? I don't have a problem when a doctor admits he or she doesn't know something, that's fine, that's what specialists are for. Dr. Tarpe, however, seems to try to evoke the impression of being knowledgeable when she clearly is not. That is unprofessional and outright dangerous. Today I was supposed to get blood drawn, made an appointment to avoid waiting, and when I get in the lab technician tells me they can't perform the test, because one of the specimens has to be taken before 9 AM. I was there at 10. I specifically asked Dr. Tarpe if there was a specific time I would have to take the test, but she simply said "no, just in the morning". If confronted with this she would probably claim the lab technician doesn't know what she's talking about, but while they haven't studied medicine She is utterly useless for anything that exceeds things you don't necessarily have to see a doctor for, like the common cold.

I am never one to write a review but I just had to support my favorite doctor. WE LOVE DR. TARPE! We've been coming to see her for a 1 yr+ She is extremely knowledgable and very honest. She's truly a breath of fresh air after having some not so great experiences with doc's. I have ALWAYS been able to contact her if I had any questions or concerns when off hours. I know I can trust her because anytime she advised me to do something, it always helped and turned out to be the best thing for me. She'll never beat around the bush about what she thinks is the issue - very forward and knows her stuff. The staff has always treated me well and are very competent. The receptionist was very sweet. I've honestly never had a better doctor and I plan on coming back as long as she's there.

I just moved to Turlock and was looking for a new primary care physician. Emanuel Primary Clinic was the only clinic accepting new patients on short notice. I checked all their doctors and everybody was 5 star. I was feeling at ease with their rating and took the first spot with Dr. Tarpe. She was very superficial , easily irritated with my questions and did not strike me as a knowledgable up to date doctor. I don't even trust the other doctors rating in this clinic. Only good for common cold.
