Dr. Gustavo Alva

ZERO STARS. Unreliable. Incompetent DR should not be allowed to practice medicine. Have made numerous formal complaints. Left me hanging with no refills, missed our appointments, and the office doesn't return calls, truly an awful experience from an inhumane operation.

Dr. Gus Alva is a nightmare, keep looking!

I received TMS treatments at this doctor office and the person conducting them, Saul Sanchez, flirted, misled, belittled, then ignored me. I especially don’t recommend this office for women. Also, Dr. Alva did a very poor job switching me from Lexapro to Trintellix. I had a major reaction and he said I would not. It caused major problems for me. This office doesn’t take responsibility and has ethical problems. And his nurse practitioner Tanya is a moron who thinks she’s super amazing and successful. She has such an ego. I just don’t recommend these people.

Staff in Costa Mesa office typically quite bad: long waits on phone, not friendly, rushed. Appears that office recently enlisted help from agency or call center for appointments and they're good. Wait times abysmal: I've waited :45 to 1:15. Most recent appointment scheduled as first of the day @0900. Dr. arrived :30 late. I waited for 1:15 and left. If you need a prescription, you'll get one.

Super annoyed. It took me leaving 5 messages to schedule an appointment and when I called back the 6th time I finally got a person on the phone who scheduled my appointment for 9am 2 weeks later. I showdown up 45 minutes early & an hour after my scheduled appointment time I was still waiting. Really? Not to mention, other patients in the office who showed up AFTER me were seen first. And they were also scheduled for 9AM!!!! How unbelievably unprofessional and inconsiderate. I have to take time away from work for this.

Dr. Gus Alva is a wonderful doctor and diagnostician. Always upbeat, but compassionate.

Really good doctor with lots of knowledge and information... Wait for the appointment was a little long but cant complain because he's dealing with mental health patients. Gave us enough time to explain what was going on with our family member. Staff very friendly, helpful and professional even when people are yelling at them for something they have no control over... I feel bad for them :( but after all everything was great....

The most inconsiderate psychiatrist in Orange County. This man is my son's psychiatrist. My son has had numerous issues with the medication he's prescribed, and 9 out of 10 appointments have been canceled by this doctor. Even his emergency appointments have been canceled by this doctor. He was recommended by our psychologist, but all his other patients are having problems with cancelations, too. I am curious if Dr. Gus Alva would allow his child to go to a doctor who canceled 9 out of 10 appointments. When we arrive we wait forever, and when we need to wait to reschedule an appointment that takes another 30 minutes. Patients are of no concern to the doctor or staff. This is the feeling that is easily conveyed to his patients. We are going elsewhere. He is the worst doctor we've ever had contact with. Just amazing that he's still in practice.

I Have seen many Dr. And most of them are great doctors... Dr. Alba is very good, professional and knowledgeable. The waiting time is a little too long and it is very difficult to set up an appointment but it is worth the wait. I used to go to the county health department for my appointments and after i had insurance i was force to find a private Dr. .... My doctor at the county recommended Dr. Alba and i am very happy with him.I am pregnant and Dr. Alba prescribed me a medicine that most of the other doctors didn't even know about it. To me he is great.
