Dr. Guy Efron, MD

Amazing visit every time!! My son is 1 now and we love Dr. Efron!!!!

My son has been with Dr. Efron for almost 4 years and when we first started seeing him, he was absolutely amazing. The time and energy he put forth on our son (who had lots of medical issues) was outstanding. But after the birth of my second son, it seems that he has just gotten too busy with too many patients. I have not been able to get an appointment for my newborn's 4month check up because somehow the front office staff canceled his appointment and now I have to wait for 3 more weeks. Unfortunately, I think I have to make a change, even though I think he's an amazing doctor!

Dr Efron is a very charming and casual personality, but when your baby is sick he snaps to! Our newborn had to be admitted to the NICU at 3 days old and was a very calming and reassuring presence. Now that she is almost 2, i have seen him many times and several other dr.'s with her since. His office is my favorite so far, and HE is by far my favorite. He is no longer covered by my insurance, so we PAY out of pocket to see him. That pretty much says it all.

The office is new and clean and Dr. Efron is friendly, but honestly not the office is not run well and the billing person is so horrible, that I'm finding a different pediatrician. On my last visit, my 3 year old son had diarrhea for 5 days and I was so worried because it was runny and we couldn't leave the house and he'd never had diarrhea before. When I called to schedule an appointment, Dr. Efron said "Well, you can come in but we really don't get worried unless it's been over 7 days." Seven days of extreme diarrhea?! I didn't want to wait and didn't care if it was "early," so I asked for an emergency appointment. When I arrived my son had to go to the bathroom of course, so I told the nurse the reason for our appointment and requested a specimen cup. It was quite an ordeal as my son did not want to poop in the cup, even though he really had to go. After two different tries, he finally did it. When Dr. Efron finally arrived in the exam room (30 minutes later!), he said "Sorry, we… can't use that specimen cup because it's not "sterile"; we have to write a prescription at a lab where you can take him." I thought that was so ridiculous that the office could accept/process a specimen, and I thought it was also ridiculous that the nurse didn't know that. Even though they gave me the prescription, Dr. Efron made a point of saying that it would take a long time because of the weekend. I just gave up and took my poor little guy home and dealt with another 4 days of diarrhea. Also, on the few occasions that I've had to speak directly with the billing person, she acts like she hates her job and her life - so unhelpful, doesn't want to do one thing to make your situation easier. Honestly, no one ever tells you his/her name, so you never know who exactly is being rude to you. Maybe it's better that way.

The woman in the billing department, Nicole was so rude we will not use the services of Dr.Efron. We heard good things about the Doctor himself but because of his awful staff we'll never know for sure now.

Dr. Efron is one of the most caring and positive people I have known. He is always cheerful, and very efficient and thorough in his exams and visits. I could not be more pleased with our choice in a pediatrician! You will love him!
