Dr. Guy Joseph Petruzzelli

Dr. Petruzzelli has great bedside manner and makes patients feel very comfortable during pre-op. However, my post-op care was non existent. After my tonsillectomy surgery I was told to use Tylenol and Motrin instead of being prescribed adequate medications to control my pain. This prompted severe dehydration, a 13 pound weight loss in 7 days and a second surgery where I refused to leave the hospital without adequate follow-up care. However, his office staff are far worse. I was laughed at multiple times on the phone for having concerns about my healing before my second surgery which proved to be great questions considering a second surgery was necessary. I was also to be seen 2 weeks after my surgery for follow up but the soonest they had available was 4 weeks out and not even the nurse would look at me sooner. Then when that appointment neared, they cancelled it and pushed it out another 2 weeks. I was never seen for a follow up appointment after my surgery. I am thankful I am also… in the medical field or I would not have known what to do. I have colleagues who looked at me instead to ensure I was healing correctly. I would avoid this office at all costs, I 100% regret having my tonsillectomy surgery done here.

He calmed my fears about my mother!!!

Dr. Petruzzelli was mine and my mother's doctor. I will never forget him. He was great with her and with our family. He has wonderful bedside manners. He did a beautiful job on her tracheostomy (trach) tube. My mother gave him nothing but praise. With the help of the Lord, he saved her life.

I was diagnosed stage 4 (Last stage) of Mouth Cancer with regional metastatic, He did my first surgery in 2006, today is 2018, He took care of my health. He is a man, who have me new life. He spend time and very friendly. Ultimate Doctor and Great Human being. I do not know, how come some patients are complaining about him? That is absolutely wrong. If patients following his protocol then never be in trouble.

Dr. Petruzzelli was sued several times in the Illinois courts and still has one suit pending as of May 2018.

So much i can say about this wonderfull doctor. I’m so sorry he left the Chicago area. Thank you so much for saving my husbands life. 20 years and still going strong. You are the best. I had a mass on my vocal cord which was first dx in 2013 & in March of this year I began to have chronic hoarseness. I returned to Dr Petruzzelli who then did surgery. I could not have ask for a better physcian. It was to be done as an outpatient, I had a procedure done in May by another physcian and had complications. I ended up admitted to the hospital for 12 days, 10 of those in CCU my specialist of 10 plus years never showed the concern or compassion as Dr Petruzzelli. Dr Petruzelli came no less than TEN times to check on me in recovery to be sure there were no complications. I thank God for Dr Petruzzelli there are not enough stars to rate him!!!!

Does not provide solutions for concerns or complaints. Consults with patient for 3 to 5 minutes then refers to another specialists (waste of time and money). As I patient I would like to have felt a genuine patient provider relationship. I was rushed and my concerns were brushed away.

Always felt I was in excellent hands with respect to the overall care. Surgery was highly satisfactory from begining to end under his care. The unfortunate and sad part of it all was Dr. Petruzzelli's relocation. I am not able to continue my care with him. If I was able to afford to travel to continue my care with him, I would.

I was in Dr. P's study in 2005 at Loyola. I am doing great, 11 years. Dr. P. was awesome in every way. Thank you Dr. P. You will always be in my prayers.
