Dr. Guy Russell Voeller, MD

Went to meet Dr. Voeller for a consult on a hernia revision that I an needing. Very nice guy, very professional, understanding and engaged throughout the consult. I work in healthcare so I recognize that this is not going to be picnic, but Dr. Voeller was very up front and helped me put a good plan of action in place that I felt comfortable with.

First impression was positive. I felt confident and trusted his opinion as well as his overall personality was warm, friendly, and caring. Blessed to have Dr. Voeller as my surgeon!

Hernia correction done laparoscopically had fast recovery in 2000 and has been fine ever since.

Had surgery by this doctor for achalasia. First, he wrote me a script for pain meds that have been taken off the market long before then. So, I went many hours without, because we couldn't get ahold of him. And now, I have to have surgery by someone else to fix his mess up. Terrible Doctor with a terrible bedside manner, and a HUGE EGO! Never again! I fired him!

I am 70 years old woman in generally good health, except the problems with my knees and hernia which I developed lifting my sick husband after he felled from bed . I do not take any prescription medication. My doctor sent me to dr. Voeller to take care of my hernia. I research on line dr Voeler credentials and was very impressed. I arrived at the office on time and was pleasantly surprised that the office ran very efficiently and effectively. I was given my questionnaire beforehand and only had a minimal amount of paperwork to fill out. I couldn’t have waited for more than 15 minutes. His staff was extremely professional and attentive. That all changed when Dr. Voeller entered the room. I was treated as though my opinion and my concerns were mute. Although he did not examine me, he very quickly told me: - that I had to quit smoking… for 2 months and lose 20 to 30 pounds before we could “talk”; -not to call him in an emergency as he did not have time(which came up multiple times throughout the short consult); - I was told that even though the hernia is life threatening that I should not call him, since there are doctors in the hospital and they can operate on me (wow!). My visit ended with handing me to sign a paper of dismissal as a patient (sic!) I found dr Voeler to be very arrogant, rude and belittling. He spent with me no more than 5 minutes. . In fact I felt extremely disrespected and pushed aside and found his bedside manner extremely lacking. I am still in shock and find his conduct inexcusable. None of my worries were calmed and I came out of the visit more scared of this ailment than I have been in the 6 years I have had it. My visit ended with handing me to sign a paper of dismissal as a patient (sic!). I had been there a total of 5 minutes! I was not his patient yet; he wouldn’t even give me the time of day to be comfortable enough to be his patient! I would think twice before recommending his services to anybody. Therefore I will not, by any circumstances, return to him!!!

Two surgeries and if i need a third I shall return. Note a chatter box but says what's needed to be said. He has been doing minimally invasive surgery since the early days.

He performed my colon resection and now I'm planning on him doing my hernia surgery.

Think he's a great surgeon . He put my mind at ease and made the whole surgical procedure tolerable.
