Dr. Hamed Jafary is a Board-Certified Podiatric Foot and Ankle Specialist by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM).After earning a degree from UCLA in microbiology and immunology in 2009, Dr. Hamed Jafary spent two years as a research associate at his alma mater conducting genetic research. But the solitude and hushed lab atmosphere got him thinking that the laboratory environment was not the best match for his outgoing personality. It was then that he decided to re-established his goals and pursue a discipline where he could meet people and socialize while practicing medicine.So Dr. Jafary began shadowing physicians within a broad spectrum of specialties. His quest for a perfectly matched specialty ended during a visit to UCLA at which time he met Dr. Bob Baravarian, Co-Director of University Foot and Ankle Institute. “I found Dr. Baravarian to be the most passionate and successful surgeon,” he says. “He inspired me to choose podiatry.”Dr. Jafary then enrolled at Barry …University School of Podiatric Medicine, in Miami, where he earned his degree in podiatric medicine and surgery. He then spent three years as a surgical resident in the Jackson Health System in Miami, Florida.Following his residency, Dr. Jafary decided to come back to Los Angeles, his hometown, and complete his fellowship at University Foot and Ankle Institute. “I find podiatry matches my personality since it is a very diverse medical specialty,” says Dr. Jafary. “Being able to do surgery, see patients in the office, and manage hospital patients really keep me active and excited.”Dr. Jafary specializes in trauma, reconstructive surgery, Charcot reconstruction, Ilizarov external fixation, and sports medicine. He is also a member of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Pediatric Medicine.When not tending to patients at University Foot and Ankle Institute, Dr. Jafary utilizes his surgical expertise assisting those less fortunate. As a member of the Yucatan Crippled Children Foundation, he has traveled to Mexico several times and performed hundreds of limb correction surgeries on children with disabling foot and ankle disorders. Dr. Jafary also participates in Podiatry Overseas, which takes him to underserved countries to treat patients with lower extremity deformitiesDr. Jafary still finds time to enjoy his family life in Sherman Oaks where he lives with his wife. Dr. Jafary takes the time to explain diagnose in detail and answers questions. He is kind compassionate, genuinely caring, and extremely knowledgeable with other health factors that can contribute to feet. Definitely recommend him! From patients AG and CG.

Dr Jafary is another fantastic doctor. Both doctors at University Foot and Ankle are amazing. Dr Jafary takes his time with each patient and I never feel rushed, even though they are becoming very busy Everyone at both the front and back of the practice, are a pleasure to work with during appointments. Only thing I don't really like is their answering service. I think we have to work through them on every call. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice and helpful but it would be nice to speak to the people in the office sometimes when the situation warrants it.

Dr. Jafary is very kind and thorough. He made me feel comfortable and took his time to hear my concerns. He did not rush me, or make me feel like I was just a number. He showed me compassion and was very understanding with my pain. He helped me feel better again by treating my pain, and taking good care of my foot. He goes above and beyond to make sure we can play the sports we love. I am grateful for him, thank you for being amazing Dr. Jafary

Love this office and love this doctor. The office girls are wonderful. Dr. Jafray is so patient and takes his time with you. I have been seeing him since he was in the old office. He did surgery on my right foot. Even though I wanted the cast off early he explained very nicely it wouldn't be in my best interest. Also his work on my incision looks like a plastic surgeons work. No scar whatsoever. Thank you Dr. Jafray and staff.

Dr Jafary is terrific! He is calm and caring. He listens and takes the time to explain what is happening or about to happen. No fault of Dr. Jafary, I had an 11:00 appointment and got there at 10:45. I did not see Dr Jafary until 11:55. Plus they had this ridiculous change in systems that required EVERY patient to have to input all their medication and other information.
