Dr. Hany Medhat Helmi, MD

I am surprised that any other patients would give Dr. Helmi a high rating. Although, when I first went to see him, I was very optimistic that he was going to help me with my pain. He prescribed a regimen of physical therapy for me that lasted for weeks. The therapist finally agreed that it was not helping me, and terminated the sessions. When I went back to see Dr. Helmi, he wrenched my knee so bad that it not only caused the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced, but it did lasting damage to my knee & leg. He was "fired" or left the facility before I could lodge a complaint. I have now had to undergo surgery on my knee. Be very careful if you are planning to see this doctor.

I was born with scoliosis and have lived in 8 states. My experiences with doctors is extensive. Dr. Helmi is by far the best in his field I have ever had and I have seen many in my 85 years. I am sorry he left Bedford, Texas.

I began having back problems at age 25 and still do. I. have seen countless Drs. In several states. This man is the best one I ever had. He is capable, efficient, kind,caring, always available and I was totally devastated when he moved away.

I also know that Dr. Helmi has no bedside manner at all. He must have been absent the day" Bedside Manner" was taught in medical school. When I walked in the treatment room, both times, he did not even greet me. I was told to lie facedown on the table and the first time I was walked back to the lobby without even being monitored or my blood pressure taken. I told one of the nurses about it on my second visit and her reply was that it just slipped by them. I was scheduled for a series of 3 appointments 2 weeks apart. I was extremely uncomfortable during the first 2 procedures. Dr. Helmi would say there would be a little stick. No numbing medicine was applied before the first shot and he gave me the second shot so fast that the first one had not taken effect . On Jan. 31st I received a phone call telling me that Dr. Helmi was no longer working for Optim in Reidsville and that my 3rd appointment had been changed to a different day with a different doctor. I hope the next doctor is… kinder and gentler. I will not know because I will be canceling the appointment. I am done with Optimhealthcare for now. Also, my first 2 shots were $6000.00 each. Not $600.00 each but $6000.00. We called the hospital and were told that the medicine in the shot made it so expensive. I will have to wait until Monday to call and see if Dr. Helmi was fired from Optim. You can be sure I will find out and two of my questions will be why he was fired and if he had injured someone who complained.

I wrote an earlier review on Dr. Helmi, I was so much in pain that I didn't like anyone not even myself, when I got the second injection their was more pain then when I came in with,and made me so angry I just wanted to lash out. Dr. Helmi explained that he had went too deep on the second injection and the reason he laughed was to lighten the situation. I have a low tolerance to pain and already have a phobia to Dr's. Dr. Helmi called me and told me if I would give him a second chance he can help me with my pain. Something in my heart told me to do so. My pain is still an issue but yes Dr. Helmi is trying every alternatives there is to subside my pain. I am tired of taking pills so with Dr. Helmi's advise whom I have learned to trust as well as my family practitioner will try . Dr. Helmi does care about people because the first time I went to see him, he told me I had spinal damage and chronic pain, God bless you. Maybe it was me who fast judge him and I do apologize for I do believe… he can and will help me eliminate my pain so I can continue to be the active person I am.

Dr. Helmi is one of the few doctors left who will take his time to listen to the patient to obtain a proper diagnosis and treatment. My past experiences with other doctors have resulted in me going back and forth with them to get an accurate diagnosis to then get the finalizing treatment. With my back issue, Dr. Helmi not only had the best bedside manner, but he asked me to point out where my pain and physically moved with me to pinpoint my issues. Most doctors just ask where the pain is and then start requesting diagnostic tests and prescriptions. Dr. Helmi not only accurately diagnosed and solved my back issue but he also followed up and is genuinely concerned for his patients. We need more doctors with his mindset in the field nationwide.

I totally disagree with the other comment. Dr. Helmi has helped me so much. I have a curved spine and severe osteoporosis. The injections he gave me helped me so much. Him and his staff was very courteous and I had no trouble at all getting in to see him the same day I called for an appointment. I will continue to see Dr. Helmi in the future.

dr. helmi has no bed side manner. i believe he is sadistic, instead of iliminating pain he enjoys inflicting it. he gave me an injection, went to deep and hit the nerve that sent a shock down my leg, i called for everyone except for the holly ghost, he laughed and said he was sorry. he has no passion or empathy, not even a bed side manner. i will not be seeing him again.
