Harneet Kaur Walia, MD

Harneet Walia, M.D., FAASM, is chief of the division of sleep medicine at Baptist Health Kenneth C. Griffin Neuroscience Institute and chief of clinical operations transformation for Baptist Health Medical Group. She also serves as a professor at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Walia joined Baptist Health in 2021 from Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. A nationally recognized leader in sleep medicine, Dr. Walia has presented at more than 100 national and international forums and has been a prominent voice in public education and media outreach to advance awareness of sleep disorders. Her clinical research has focused on obstructive sleep apnea treatment, upper airway stimulation, cardiometabolic outcomes and patient-centered measures such as quality of life, depressive symptoms and insomnia. Her work has earned national recognition and has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including CHEST, JAMA Otolaryngology and the Journal of Clinical …Sleep Medicine. In her clinical operations transformation role, Dr. Walia leads initiatives that advance evidence-based care, operational excellence and continuous improvement across Baptist Health Medical Group. Her leadership and scholarly achievements have been recognized with honors, including the Gidwani Mid-Career Scholarship from the Women’s Professional Staff Association at Cleveland Clinic, which supported her participation in a Harvard Medical School leadership program. In 2026, she completed the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program, Executive Leadership in Health Care track.
