Dr. Harold Zalmon Bencowitz, MD

After being incorrectly diagnosed (by others) a CT scan found a large mass in lung, which several doctors mis-diagnosed as large in-operable tumor. Dr. Bencowitz looked at the CT scan ordered a biopsy and diagnosed pulmonary embolism which turned out to be the correct call and began treatment immediately. He showed great interest in my condition and progress. Highly recommend this doctor.

I like the fact that he was direct and to the point. If he did not know he said so. accurate in his assessment of my situation and worked hard at getting the right combination of drugs - did not over medicate.Very pleased with his treatment of my condition.

My husband was admitted into the hospital with "asthma" and this doctor was called in to treat him. He was very rude and refused to listen to my husband's history or anything else. We tried to explain what lead up to him being diagnosed with asthma - thinking it was important - but this doctor cut us off in mid-sentence. He didn't allow any questions or explanations! Our PCP provides better care than this "spcialist". Will NEVER use him again.

My grandmother was critically ill for 6 weeks in the hospital and Dr. Bencowitz only spoke with the patient 2 times during that time. Meanwhile, nurses were urging us to sign DNR papers without us ever speaking to him to find out just WHY we needed to do that. We had to make an appointment with him to even discuss her care. VERY poor doctor!
