Dr. Harold Byrd Betton, MD

I had been suffering with extreme pain in both of my legs for quite sometime. When the pain got too unbearable I made an appointment with Dr. Harold Betton. He immediately got referrals out on my behalf to try to find the cause of my illness! I am more then greatful to call him my physician! To top it all off, he loves Jesus! Great man!

Dr. Betton although seasoned is up to date with the latest technology. With his experience and updates and just caring about his patients I will not change to another physician. I consider him one of the best in his field.

Dr. Betton purports to be both an unordained, lay minister in addition to being a physician. During the course of 3 office visits, I received 3 errors pertaining to my medication: type, allergic response recorded on new patient information form, and dosage. I intend to look more carefully at Dr. Betton's medical practice from the standpoint of patient care (or harm). A significant shortcoming is not communicating well with patients. Dr. Betton seems to prefer popping in and out of the examination room while spending time the balance of the visit time in an inner office - all while the patient waits for him in the examination room. He alters dosages on medications without advising patients. He prescribes medications to which a patient has reported that he is allergic. Thanks to my pharmacist, two of these problems were caught. I think that Dr. Betton would like to think that he is capable of being both a clergyman and a physician, however my impression, based on first-hand experience as… one of Dr. Betton's medical patients is that he is unable to fulfill both roles well. Indeed, many professionals are able to do this; Dr. Betton is not. If he wishes to continue to practice medicine, he would do well to give his patients his full time and attention, or do the same for his flock. He cannot do both well.

Don't waste your time with this physician or his practice. Your health is far too important to entrust it to someone who is poor at interpersonal communication and careless with his work. Three errors with prescriptions, one involving an allergic reaction of which he was aware, were enough for me. During 2 of the last 3 visits, I had to leave to return to work after waiting 2 hours on Dr. Betton. His medical expertise does not justify waiting that long to be seen by him. He's been in practice long enough to know better. Unfortunately, Dr. Betton seems preoccupied when his focus should be on the patient he is with at the moment. As a professor at a medical school, I believe I recognize a top-notch clinician and medical practice when I find it. Poor interpersonal communication skills are a major deficiency. Telephone calls to Dr. Betton's nurse, Jackie, are not returned. For some reason, Dr. Betton has allowed his antiquated equipment to become dirty, broken or fall into disrepair. One… feels as though one wants to wash after leaving Dr. Betton's office. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Dr. Betton. There are excellent young physician's who truly care about their patients out there. A little time and effort expended to find one is well worth it.

I called on thursday to get an appointment and was seen on Monday. I did have to wait approximately 40 min to get in the room and another 10 to see the Dr. His exam was through and spent a good deal of time discussing my complaints and ways to rectify it. The office staff was helpful in getting my insurance sorted out. Would highly recommend

This is the most unprofessional clinic I have ever seen. The staff, the nurses, and the doctors are all unfriendly, unprofessional, and will never return a phone call . . . I should know I have left 8 messages, but still no phone call returned. The receptionist is extremely rude. This clinic should not be in practice.
