Great cancer center but he is very rushed, sometimes you are only seeing the nurse and at times he is not very compassionate.

We recently saw Dr. Burstein for a second opinion after my oncologist at a major academic medical center seemed inadequate with regard to most up-to-date knowledge of the literature on several important breast cancer topics. First, Dana Farber is a fantastic cancer center and it just doesn't get any better than Dr. Burstein. He knew the literature, he knew the guidelines (heck, he wrote many of them). He printed articles for us; he explained everything clearly. He laid out options and the rationale for each of them. He was kind, compassionate, supportive, and fun. He is truly a national treasure. The wait was a bit long BUT the staff told us when we signed in that he was running behind so we knew upfront. A wonderful doc, a great cancer center. I've been with Dr. Hal Burstein for 9 years, since I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. I can't say enough to recommend him to anyone who's recently been diagnosed with this disease. He takes on the roll of the captain, guiding you through all the treatments with care and competency. Dana Farber rolls out the red carpet when you arrive, and after 9 years, I still feel the warmth and caring attitude when I step through the doors. You feel like an invited guest! The misguided attitudes of many who say that being treated in a major hospital or clinic can impersonal are so wrong. Dana Farber and Dr. Hal Burstein are literally life savers!
