Dr. Harold Alban Hess, MD

He is nothing but a butcher. If you want to be cut on then given no pain medications while in the hospital or to bring home with you he’s your man. Worst part I was worse after the surgery than before and he continued to denie there was anything wrong with my back. Dr Doug Burton at KU had to clean up his mess!!

I've heard such wonderful things about Dr Hess, so made an appointment and was fortunate to get in to see Nurse Practitioner, Tami within a week. The office and staff are all great. The office is immaculate and I was offered coffee to be brought to me while I wait. Just the nicest , kindest office staff and you could tell everybody was happy to be there AND work there. NP Tami is the BEST. She spent time with me explaining my MRI results and showed me how it effects my spinal cord, etc... Nobody has been so thorough going over results and explaining so well in the past. Usually doctors have been in and out quickly, not wanting to bother with displaying and explaining MRI or Xray results. First rate/ 5 STARS

I had a anterior cervical laminectomy done. I was in horrible pain prior to surgery and my job depended on this problem getting fixed or I could no longer work. After my surgury my pain was gone. He is an outstanding nuro surgeon. However, he does not relate to humans well so if you have questions it is best to work through his assistant. Also, he does have an inflated ego and is not patient in spending any time with patients inside the office. If you are looking for hand holding he is not your doctor however he is an outstanding surgeon.

I never saw the doctor until the day of surgery, then it was only for a few minutes. I always saw assistant. When I tried to get a follow up appointment it was impossible. I had surgery 2 years ago and I am having same problem again now.

I had the fortune of being referred to Dr. Hess several years ago. He truly saved my life. Before initiating surgery procedures he sent me for further evaluation to make certain that his Dx was correct before surgery was performed. I am young and a surgery like this was the last thing I expected to experience. Dr. Hess and his staff made this difficult time easier with their knowledge, skills, and support that was tailored to my personal needs. I would recommend Dr. Hess anytime. He truly gave my life back to me.

He was not sure what was wrong with me but he did not stop there. His PA helped me find a doctor that could help me and made my appointment for me. He is a little short on his visits but that is only because he has patients that love to see him. His staff is wonderful and patient people. He helped several of my co-workers that is why I called him. Like I said he couldn't help me but he found someone who could. Thanks Hess and Staff!!!

arrogant to say the least. Wouldn't not explain to me exactly what was going on with my back. Apparently I was wasting his time with my questions.

Dr. Hess is a total arrogant jerk. I wouldn't take my dog to him!
